<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'></p> <span class="postbody">No sure anyone posted this Sun Yue news: http://nba.sports.tom.com/2007-09-12/0F30/83718075.html The link is in Chinese, but in summary: Sun’s ABA club has already received a contract offer from the Lakers. They are making some adjustments to the contract and will send it back to the Lakers by the end of September. They expect Sun to sign the contract by Oct 1 and he will be in Lakers' camp. The contract is guarantee for 1 year. However, the article also say “knowledgable” people seems to think the contract is not guarantee. (Prefect case of talking out both side of the mouth). They expected the money to be NBA minimum.</span></p> <span class="postbody">I found more stuff from the same website: http://nba.sports.tom.com/2007-09-12/0F30/84211600.html The link is in Chinese, it basically say: 1. Kupchak watched Sun in person while he was playing in Los Angeles for his ABA team. He watched him in Orlando. 2. In addition to skill, Kupchak may draft Sun for Marketing reason. 3. Sun played one on one against DJ Strawberry in the Lakers tryout on June 15 and totally outplayed him.</div></span></p> Source: NBA TOM </p> The site is in Chinese. The translation is from seccom at LG.</p> I wonder how hard Stern is pushing for the Lakers to bring him over since the NBA just announced it will be expanding into China</p> Having as many stars from China in the league as possible is important for the league to market their product to the Chinese population. Not to mention the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. </p> This summer I've read nothing, but praise about his game. He is still inexperienced and doesn't have the strength yet, but Sun Yue has a great feel for the game. The Lakers currently have 17 players signed for camp, Sun Yue would be the 18th. Lakers will have to trim the roster to 15 before the start of the season, which gives Sun Yue a great opportunity to make this roster.</p> Coby Karl, Larry Turner, Elton Brown, and Sun Yue would be the players on the bubble. </p>
I'm excited :] I really want him to play for the Lakers cause I enjoy watching my own nations players play.
In that offense, he wont have to handle it nearly as much....hes a matchup nightmare for almost all guards on the offensive end, and with limited responsibilities in the triange, the transition will be easier....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Trench)</div><div class='quotemain'>Sun Yue. Anyone have YOUTUBE clips on the guy? Never seen him actually handle the rock.</div> He is a pretty good ball handler and at his height of 6'9", his passing vision is great cause he just looks over everybody. He has this one move he favors, where he dribbles one way then spins the other way and drives to kickthe ball out, shoot it, or drive. I'm excited to see him play, I want him over the fake LT and EB lol.</p>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Trench)</div><div class='quotemain'>Sun Yue. Anyone have YOUTUBE clips on the guy? Never seen him actually handle the rock.</div> Sun Yue's got a lot of highlights, just search him on Youtube. The guy definetely has talent. He seems like a very flashy and exciting player. I'm only basing this on his highlights obviously because I've never really seen him play in an actual game. Given that, he is still extremely raw, and is mostly just a "potential" type of player. I'd rather us keep him overseas for a couple of years and then bring him back when he has actually developed parts of his game, and added some bulk to his frame. Currently, I don't think he's ready for the league yet. He needs to add more muscle and pollish his skills. I think the best way to go about this situation is to leave him overseas for a year or two, like Marc Gasol, and bring him back when we feel he is ready. I also don't see any space on our roster for him, and how he will actually fit into our squad this season. We already have two young point guards in Javaris Crittenton and Jordan Farmar, plus veteran Derek Fisher. But maybe with his 6'9 height, we could shift him somewhere else.....</p>
Larry Turner is definitely gone, and possibly Elton Brown. Why do we have 500 point guards on this team? Sasha and Farmar need to be traded, especially if Critt makes the most of his first year in LA. I like Farmar, but he can be very valuable in a trade that needs that one solid backup guard to round it off. Fisher, Crittenton, and Yue looks decent for this season, although I'd still rather have someone like Charlie Bell, who would be more of a guarantee to help us on both sides of the ball.
Honestly, if Sun gets signed, I think that's a sign of Farmar being on his way out. Hell, I think drafting Crittenton is a sign of that. If we do sign Sun though, one of our PGs has to go, and it's more than likely going to be Farmar. Cause honestly, 4 PGs is too many.
I like Sun and I hope we can keep him. Of course he got stuff he needs to work on, working out is one of them, but I think he can be a great player for us if he can flesh some stuff out
