I think you can make the correlation that because the penalty to Haynesworth wasn't stiff enough IMO, that the college players didn't concern themselves with the consquences of their actions. Way to go Godell! [IMG]

You're blaming this brawl on the handling of the Haynesworth incident? This probably would've happened even if Haynesworth had been suspended for the year and prosecuted. Since when do college students think? This falls on the head of these players and I hate to say it, but the coaches too, especially Coker. He's lost control of his players.

"I do have a grip on this program," Coker said. "Don't ever doubt that. Don't ever doubt that."

No Larry...we have to doubt that. Your team has acted like a bunch of thugs for the last two years.

You don't think that what happens at the pro game trickles down to those kids who look up to these guys as role models? It's the same for every sport, but football is the most glorified in America right now.

I'm sorry but those are two different episodes. This Miami team has been acting like this before Haynesworth did what he did. Remember also, that these two Universities are about 20 miles from each other. These players played against and with each other in high school. A good portion of them have probably known each other for a while. This had probably been stemming for some time. Miami simply has a bunch of thugs playing for them right now.

Well maybe it didn't have a direct impact on this incident, but I can assure you that it sticks in these kids heads when players at the pro game get off lightly with the most aggregious of acts.

Aggregious? I'm beginning to think Bakes won the contest and spent the money on a dictionary. [IMG]

I work part time at a Boys and Girls Club working with kids from ages 6-18. I used to spend time just mentoring 11-14 year old boys for the Club. At that age, yes I find that they fall victim to what pro athletes get away with, but it's only guys that they admire like TO or Randy Moss. They all want to act like him. College students are different. They have more sense because they're older and even then, I seriously doubt any of those guys really admired Albert Haynesworth. Most of them probably didn't know who he was. He's a good player, but he's not a big name. I don't think his actions had any influence on how these college teams reacted Saturday.
