<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Antoine Wright has not become the player the Nets thought they were getting when they took him at #15 in 2005 Draft. His rookie year was disastrous and although he improved last season, Wright has been called a &ldquo;bust&rdquo; and &ldquo;uber-bust&rdquo; by pundits. He knows that he needs to show what he can do this coming season, to move higher in the Nets&rsquo; rotation. No more excuses about being stuck behind Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson.</div></p>

Wasn't last season supposed to be his year?</p>

he played 370 minutes in his rookie season<DIV> </DIV><DIV>1,137 minutes in his second year.  </DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>You can't develop confidence and swagger in 1,508 career minutes.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>I think it's too early to count him out, despite the "bust" label, he's focused and he's got alot of heart.  When he decides he's not just a kid playing behind Vince and RJ he'll be good.  </DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>I'm hoping that once he master's the learnig curve in Jersey, he could be like RonRon lite.  But his offensive game has been weak because he's nervous about Frank pulling him out of the game.  I still don't think this is gonna be his "year", but it will be his best year so far.</DIV>

Hey J.S welcome to the forum</p>

Wright looked pretty good toward the end of last year. I'm one of the people who thinks he's a bust, but I'm also praying that I get to eat those words. Show me something Antoine!</p>

It's all about confidence. When he's confident, he's a completely different player. He attacks the rim, doesn't look so out of place, and runs the floor very well. All about confidence.

He was drafted as a shooter, so hasn't he already proved a lot of people wrong </p>

I think he played better at the end of the year. He shot somewhere around 48% during March, April, and the playoffs. Which happened to coincide with when his best friend, his older brother, was released from jail. He just doesn't shoot enough, and can be a little too passive. I remember a couple of very aggressive plays in the playoffs against Cleveland where he really attacked the rim and got hammered in the process. He was also solid on defense. I still believe that he's just a slow bloomer.

Thats what my thoughts on him have always been. There are times he'll get it going a little and look great out there...and then he'll miss a few shots and goes way downhill.</p>

at least he doesn't shoot too much, like Stephen Jackson.</p>

    Welcome, JS!</p>

It seemed he did make some strides last season. Last season, he got his chance with more minutes, but didn't make much of it. This season, he'll probably get more minutes per game, so i guess this could be considered his best chance to actually show how good he really is. or isn't.</p>

I recall liking what I was seeing from him towards the end of the season and into playoff time. I think he's going to be better this year, and continue to improve for the next few years.

I'm really pulling for Antoine Wright this year. I believe he'll make huge strides, strides that he showed during the playoffs.</p>

I wish we released him instead of Hassan Adams and Eddie House. Let's hope he really comes through for us this year.

Wright's defense is too valauble to throw away. He just needs to get his jumper going again, that way, he'll be effective from both sides of the floor. </p>

He impressed me towards the end of last year. He is our best perimter defender and as one poster already stated, when he has the right mentality, he is a much better player.

Jefferson is just as good of a defender. Plus I would rather have veteran help like Eddie House and alot of energy off the bench with Hassan Adams then a decent perimeter defender. </p>

ive been pullin for antoine as well and moreso after a lot of people called him a bust before he played one nba minute. we all know the story on the kid, his confidence is his biggest problem. i really liked how he finished the year last year. attacking the basket and making shots more consistantly. antoine has to feel be belongs out there and has to make himself make an impact. you can see glimpses of great play from him, but then you see where he gets down on himself and just bricks every shot. every year you have to get better in house and we really need antoine to step up this year, as we need everyone else to step up as well.
