Jefferson is better at guarding stronger players but he even realy isnt that much ahead of Wright in that area. Wright is quicker on his feet and thus can stick to his man much more effectively. Last year Jefferson was average, mostly due to the ankles imo. We'll miss Eddie House but if Houston comes in then we really did not lose much. Adams was good, not as good as Wright when his mentality is right. Adams was pretty much expendable though. As much as a fan favorite he was, he really has no position. A 6'4 guard who couldnt shoot or dribble well doesnt really have a niche. Though I was very impressed with his improvement on both those areas in summer league. Shame we cut him but again, he was expendable.

Antoine Wright = role player.
I just hope he plays well enough this year to convince Rod to trade Carter...

QUOTE (ly_yng)

Antoine Wright = role player.
I just hope he plays well enough this year to convince Rod to trade Carter...

that will never happen. only way vince is getting shipped out is if we get a marketable star back. remember we are moving to brooklyn. vince is a huge part of the brooklyn move whether people want him to be or not. who would take vince at his age with his new contract? nobody unless if he is playing at an MVP level when his value would be high, but if he is at an MVP level ratner wouldnt trade him...unless it would bring kobe imo.

I dislike Bowen too much to hope for Wright to turn in him, but I could see him developing into a softer version of Ron Artest

QUOTE (J.S)

I dislike Bowen too much to hope for Wright to turn in him, but I could see him developing into a softer version of Ron Artest

I hate Bruce Bowen, and wish like hell he was on the Nets.
It's really more the league's fault that they haven't come down on his dirty play than it is his fault for exploiting loopholes in the system. There really should be some retroactive flagrants for his "slide under the jump shot" move which has already injured two or three players. But what do you want - he's a half-decent NBA player who's made a career out of exploiting every advantage he can get. He's not doing it cause he wants to hurt people, he's doing it to stay employed.
But yeah, back on topic, I think Wright's got the potential to be Bruce Bowen with better offense. I'd love a player like that on the Nets.

I like the James Posey comparison, but I think he's far off from reaching that level. Still, thats the type of upper bound that I think Wright could reach if anything; not an all-star, but someone who gets it done on both ends of the court.

I didn't like letting Adams go either, but if I had to choose between him or Wright, it's Wright all the way. While he may be energetic, Adams' D can be questionable at times, he's undersized for both the 3 and 2 positions, and his jumper is inconsistent. As I said, I didn't like releasing him for the reason that we did (to prevent his contract from becoming guaranteed), but Wright is the more valuable player by far. And when Wright is showing his confidence, he's the quintessential bench player, IMO. Always comes down to the confidence issue with Antoine.

He must improve his midrange shots and will.
as I said he is the next James Posey. The difference of them is Wright needs longer range.

Eddie house wasn't released BTW.
Toine would cost us money, because he was a 1st rounder, and he's better than Hassan. I like Hassan more, but there's not doubt that Toine is better.
