So while searching for some unknown 9th Wonder stuff, I happened to come across this torrent for "God's Stepson (instrumentals). Petestrumentals is one of my all time favorite records, and so I was curious to see what 9th could do. Wow. Every track on this album so far is legendary, and it wasn't until I got to the track "Ether" did I realize this was a remix of the Nas album (duh). I'm now downloading the regular version (with lyrics) now.

Here's a taste: This guy set the song as the background to this clip of his friends skating.

(Sounds like an awesome blend of Pete Rock's Petestrumentals and MF Doom's Special Herbs)

Download the full album here (free)

The instrumentals version was just taken down off Megaupload, so you'll have to find the torrent.

Meh, I'm not a fan of instrumental albums, after the first 30 seconds or so its just the same thing looped, so its becomes boring fast. The vocals make the beat, and the beat makes the vocals.

9th wonder makes beats for Little Brother as well. The guy is great. One of the best producers out there. (kind of unknown and underrated)

Just like little brother, a lot of people don't know them or have never heard them. If they did, LB would be at the top of the charts. You never see them on mtv, or bet, or whatever.

    Ah, let me clarify.

The above link directs you to a megaupload site where you can download his remix of God's Son (originally by nas). It contains lyrics.

However the beats are just so amazing that I went out and torrented the instrumentals version.

Common Sense is a very well known emcee, but he does not sell very well relative to more mainstream guys. Talib Kweli, too. Just because guys are technically more talented artists, it does not mean that they will be more popular. Norah Jones doesn't sell as well as Rihanna.

    Re: 9th Wonder's

I just read a review of this mixtape, and I agree with a lot of what it said. Nas has always been an amazing lyricist, but there's been a significant drop-off in his albums since the early 90's, namely 94's Illmatic. The difference coming from the quality of production; Illmatic featured legendary prouducers, who captured the sound of the golden era of hip hop. "God's Stepson" is my 2nd favorite Nas album. The good songs on the original become classics, and the mediocre songs become amazing as well, now infused with the sounds of 1994. I can't say this enough: if you like hip hop, nas, whatever, download the link for free in my first post.

9th Wonder is one of the greatest producers ever. This album is right up there with Illmatic
