It was the third straight win for the Mets after dropping theseries opener. With Washington defeating Philadelphia, 5-3, onSunday, New York (87-68) increased its lead over thePhiladelphia Phillies (85-71) in the National League East to 21/2 games. Jose Reyes walked to open the 11th and Luis Castillo singled,setting the stage for Wright, who singled up the middle offMarlins reliever Harvey Garcia (0-1). Joe Smith (3-1) pitched a scoreless 10th inning to earn the win.Aaron Sele got the first two outs in the bottom of the 11thand Scott Schoeneweis got the final out to record his secondsave of the season. Dan Uggla connected for his 31st homer of the season off Metscloser Billy Wagner in the ninth inning to knot the score at sixand send the game into extra innings. Moises Alou extended his major league best hitting streak to 27games with a single in the eighth inning to tie the score atthree, then Carlos Delgado smacked a three-run homer to give theMets a 6-3 lead. It was Delgado's 24th homer of the season and his 431st careershot which tied Cal Ripken Jr. for 37th on the all-time list.
