I have seen a few publications, etc...

As of now, Miami is projected to be in the 6 to 10 range. Most have Miami taking Gaines Adams of Clemson or another DL.

The phins have a good # of young DL and really IMO don't to address this area.

They do need IMO to address OL (Left Tackle specifically), LB, & Secondary.

Miami Has, alot of Depth at DE, I'd especially like to see more of Matt Roth in the future, Jason taylor has a couple years left, and then they Still have Vonnie Holiday who can play every position along the D-line except for maye NT.

Not to mention Kevin Carter, Traylor, & Wilkinson. I'd like to see more of Vickerson (drafted in '05) and Manny Wright if he ever gets his head on straight.

Further, Rod Wright (of the Nat'l Champ Longhorns) could be the steal of this past April's draft.

I do a weekly update of my mock. However, my draft order is determined by where teams would be picking if the season were ending today so Miami has the 2nd pick this week. I don't necessarily think that's where they'll be picking though. The 2nd pick would be great for Miami though because it would allow them to get OT Joe Thomas. If they end up in the 8-10 range, then I could see them maybe going for OT Levi Brown from Penn St. In the 4-7 range, I could see them jumping on S LaRon Landy.

Just say no to Rod Wright. He's an underachiever with a bad work ethic. He just disappeared at times for Texas last season. He's not the steal of the draft and won't be close to being the steal of the draft. Marques Colston is the steal of this past draft. He was a 7th round pick.

Miami would love to have LT Joe Thomas. He is huge and is the best olineman in the NCAA. I think he also use to play defensive line, which means he is fast and agile.

I don't know if any of you watched the Wisconsin/Purdue game last week, but Joe Thomas was matched up against Anthony Spencer for the entire game. Spencer has been the most productive DE in the country this year. He led all DL in tackles and tackles for loss going into last week and he had 6.5 sacks. Spencer held him to a big goose egg in all stats. That's right. Spencer didn't even get a tackle. He dominated him. I have experience coaching OL and the only thing that I could see Thomas do wrong was that he would at times overextend his upper body at times. That can make him come off balance. Fortunately at the college level, he has the other skills to make up for those mistakes.

    Here's a new debate for Miami's pick...

If the season ended today then Miami would have the 1st pick in the draft. Now would they take Brady Quinn or Joe Thomas?

I think they'd go with Quinn. You just can't pass up a future franchise QB like Quinn. He'll probably rate out higher than either Young or Leinart from last season as well. Joe Thomas is one of my favorite players in this draft, but Quinn addresses to many needs. Now there could be some options though. Let's face it, the Dolphins probably need a QB and an OT. Whichever they draft in the 1st round then they need to draft the other position early in the 2nd round. So if they draft Joe Thomas, you could be looking at Drew Stanton or Troy Smith in the 2nd round. If they draft Quinn, then it could be someone like Sam Baker, Jake Long, or Ryan Harris. I think the quality of OT you can get in the 2nd round is higher than the quality of QB you can get there. So you have to go with Quinn.

I think Miami needs to give Culpepper one more year. They need him to remain healthy but most importantly protect him. I wouldn't pass on Joe Thomas. In fact I'm starting to believe based on the teams that Thomas would be the #1 overall pick in the Draft. The Lions, Dolphins, and Cardinals are all struggling and all 3 could use a franchise LT. Obviously it's a long way to go but Thomas is definately a canidate if one of those teams get the top pick and I wouldn't doubt that happening right now.

I actually changed my mind on this. In last week's mock that I did...I have the Dolphins with the first pick taking Joe Thomas. I think if Miami or Arizona have the first pick then Thomas is the pick. I still see the Lions taking Quinn if they have the pick. I haven't gotten this week's draft order if the season ended after this week yet, but I'm pretty sure Arizona would have the 1st pick this week. Arizona would have to pick Joe Thomas. They'd be insane not too. That's the only position, other than defense, in which Arizona really needs an upgrade. We know they wouldn't take Quinn, Peterson or Johnson. The only other player they would consider might be Gaines Adams because DE is a position in which they need help. Adams is not a better prospect than Thomas though and I don't think the Cards have a bigger need than OT. This would be much to the shagrin of Miami though, who would just have to hope to get someone like Sam Baker or Jake Long, if they come out, early in the 2nd round.
