They need a striker who can play over the top, like Louis Saha but less injury-prone. They also need a long-term replacement for Gary Neville. Personally I would like to see Micah Richards make a switch across Manchester, but I highly doubt that it would happen. It is very difficult to suggest realistic players as I am not an insider across World football, but they need to try to find a player who is relatively cheap with a big upside.

They really need to pick someone up now that Silvestre is out, and with Saha being injury prone.

Not sure who though? Maybe from Seria A (italian league), since they have lots of good defenders.

I think their team is amazing as it is... They just can't seem to find their groove.

ManU spent 80 million pounds during the last transfer windown (rumored 20K to be delayed; Tevez deal), They brought in 20 million pounds (Heinze, Smith, Richardson and Rossi (who I think it was a mistake to ship out)). With the high salaries, Ronaldo getting a raise, not sure how much ManU has to spend unless they find a player to move.

I'd like to see them find a upgrade for Brown (as Neville is just getting up there in age as noted in this thread), like to see them find a striker. Someone whose more like a poacher, don't need another out and out striker, someone who is able to finish the plays created by all the offensive sets.

Tevez is on a two-year loan deal, and United have a rumoured £20 million option to purchase him at the end of the period. There is a buy-back clause in Rossi's contract, meaning that they can purchase him back at a fixed price at any point in the future. What they need is an out and out striker (I think you may be misinterpreting the phrase), rather than a player who plays off a front man like Rooney or Tevez. Someone who's big, strong and quick, like van Nistelrooy (it was a huge mistake to get rid of him). Perhaps Huntelaar could be the answer, but they need someone who will definitely be able to compete in the Premiership with its quick, physical play. I don't know enough about the Continental game to pick out a player, but I do know that players who succeed in the Italian Leagues do not always succeed in the Premiership (Shevchenk, anyone?), so I would want to look at perhaps the Spanish Primera, but probably a League with less glamour and more physical football. The Dutch leagues may be more like that, I'm not sure.

I know what you mean. Adebayour would be an "out and out"?

I meant 20M instead of 20K (in regards to Tevez, I'm assuming they will buy out the loan agreement), I know big difference. They have spent a lot of money this past transfer window, not sure they will spend much more.

I was referring to a similar type fwd they should go after. I haven't seen any of Huntelaar or Alfonso Alves. Anyone know much of these 2? I know they were rumored to coming over to United this past year.

It doesn't matter if United sign anyone as after yesterday against Chelsea their star player was the little known Mike Dean. So United's greatest assetts generally seem to be the men in black or yellow or whatever colour the refs wearing on the day. CHEATING TWATS

There was a huge call that didn't go United's way at the 17 minute mark, where Cole (Joe) took out Evra, replays showed he didn't get ball. Should had been a penalty. Calls over the season should balance out.

Now I don't beleive they do even themselves out. Ok you get the odd thing in your favour but Man Ure get MORE than the rest. If you look at yesterdays game for instance, Mikel should of never been sent off so that would of been an extra hour with 11 men, ok you point to Joe Cole who should of been sent off. Ask yourself would he have made that challenge if he wasn't frustrated with what was going on? Why did he play so much time in the 1st half when they scored the crucial 1st goal. Why wasn't Rooney sent off?And the penalty was a disgrace. Thats 4 huge decisions of which actually influenced the result so don't tell me what goes around comes around because thats bollocks. Do you think the same decisions would of been made if it was say Wigan for instance. NOT A CHANCE.

That is not the foul I am referrering to by Cole. I'm talking about the one at the 17th minute where there was a ball lobbed forward to Evra, and Cole tackled him from behind. Cole didn't get ball. The replays and annoucers agreed after. This all happened before Chelsea went 1 man down at the 37 minute mark.

Do you think that Wigan could have got in the same positions as Man Utd did? You cannot use the excuse that Cole wouldn't have made that challenge if he wasn't frustrated. That's why everyone makes rash challenges. Do you think Rooney would have made that challenge if he wasn't frustrated that he wasn't playing brilliantly? Or that he hadn't been playing recently, so was like a 'caged lion'? Do you think Saha would have simulated if he could have got to the ball before the second defender? You gget my point.

    I would say that:

[*]Mikel should have been sent off, though it is a soft red card, but that is a red card according to the Laws of the game.
[*]Tevez' goal was OK because the 2 minutes only indicated the minimum to be played. The corner and other stoppages within those two minutes would have easily put it over if it was meant to be exactly two minutes. But it was probably more like 2:20, so United only needed an extra 10 seconds for the goal.
[*]Wayne Rooney should have been sent off. I'm not gonna protect him; that was an idiotic tackle and he was lucky to stay on the pitch. But he had got himself worked up, and the tackle was not malicious or dangerous like Mikel's, just stupid.
[*]Joe Cole should have been sent off. That was IMO the worst tackle of the game, but he stayed on the pitch because Mikel was sent off nd Rooney wasn't. That is how things balance out (at least a bit).
[*]Louis Saha simulated a bit, but there was contact and as such it is hard for Chelsea to argue. And their players didn't argue too much either, and that tells you something.[/list]

I think Roman Abramovich deserves a crap season for Chelsea due to the way he's treated Mourinho.
