And with the #1 pick, the Dolphins select...
I say that the Falcons cannot win consistently if Michael Vick throws for more than 25 passes in a game. He has a losing record for his career (12-15 counting this season's 2-2 mark) in games he's thrown over 25 passes. He's thrown over 25 the last two games and has 7 TDs and 2 INTs and he's 2-0 in those games. I'm still not convinced and it's not because I'm hating on him. It's because I have stats and history to back up what I say. Vick put together back to back 25+ pass attempt victories at about this time last season as well. After the second victory over Miami,in which Vick was 22 of 31 for 228 yards and a touchdown, he told his critics to shut up with the talk about him not being able to win games with his arm. After that game, he went on to throw 9 TDs and 7 INTs as the Falcons went 2-6 over the last 8 games. He threw for over 25 passes 5 times in those 8 games and won none of them. Two good games throwing the ball doesn't make him consistent. He needs to show the ability to do this over the 2nd half of the season.
Vick excelled against Cincy because Cincy stacked the box to prevent the run, and left there guys in alot of 1 on 1 coverage, If your an NFl QB you have to be able to make plays against single coverage.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (DolfanDale)</div><div class='quotemain'>I wanted to reach into my TV and slap Deion Sanders this morning. He was telling everyone to shut up about Michael Vick because he was throwing the ball so well. It seems to me that Michael Vick had a couple of good games in the middle of last season then reverted back to his usually miserable form. I think the same will happen here. Two good games doesn't make a guy a great player. Rather than patting the guy on the back, shouldn't everyone be saying, "It's about time." I just don't understand how Vickolytes will stand behind Vick year after miserable year, but yell for other QBs to be benched if they have a few bad games. Enjoy Vick's success now because it won't last long.</div> By the way, I told you so.
Looks like DD is a prophet. Seems like Vick is back to his old self only with the added hand gestures. Even funnier how the reporters still harp in amazment at his rushing yards when it seems the more yards he runs for the more they lose by.

I think he should run several times a game...at least 10-15 times. But they need to figure out his strengths in the passing game and call passing plays that play up to them. His receivers really hung him out to dry today though especially Roddy White.
The WR's have hung him out to dry all damn season practically, especially Roddy White. It's truly pathetic the way this team is playing, and it's no where near all Vick's fault, as far as I'm concerned he's the only one who did anything on offense today even if they were in rushing yards. If I were Vick I'd be flipping off the receiving core and the OL instead of the Falcons fans but it doesn't really matter because a loss is a loss. They suck yet again this year during the second half of the football season. Bring on the paper bag!!

Mora made some attempts at this earlier in the season, but has seemed to abandon it. I think Mora has to be on the hot seat in Atlanta now and I won't be surprised if he is dismissed at season's end if the Falcon's can't put together some sort of run. Vick's not going to be the one to go. He's too marketable to get rid of and even with the dual dirty bird that he flipped at the fans...he's still a fan favorite. Fans will give him another chance the next time he shows flashes of brilliance on the football field. I really blame the coaching for the Falcons situation. One of the key parts to being a successful coach is to either adapt your style to your personel or to adapt your personel to your style. Mora hasn't been successful at doing either.
There's no need to change the playbook. Mora just needs to learn to tell a QB from a RB/WR. If Mora would put Michael Vick in an assortment of positions, other than QB, you could really cause a lot of mismatches. Having Vick and Dunn as running options means that defenses would have to respect the run. Then, I would put Vick in the slot or the outside WR on various plays and see who covers him. If you want to take advantage of Vick's arm, then put in some plays that give him the option of throwing occasionally, but for the love of the passing game, put in Schaub and get back a passing game that needs to be respected. You might actually see even more running room.

I mean this team has never had back-to-back winning seasons, come on now something has got to give at some point. All I know is that something had better change this off-season, and it better be a big change.
Here's what I find funny/ironic; Vince Young, who I am no big fan of, is already putting up better passing stats... yds, completion %age.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MKIV_Supra)</div><div class='quotemain'>Who is their new recievers coach?</div> George Stewart is the Falcons WR coach. If that's what you're asking.
i agree with DD actually I think the Falcons should do with Vick what the Jets do with Brad Smith, except it'll probably be more effective and they'll do it more often. Switch QBs between Vick and Schaub, make Vick the running back or WR do some trickery. It probably would be more effective for the Falcons. Schaub is just sitting on the bench doing nothing hes a good player.
Atlanta needs to make up their mind. If they want to run a west coast offense and use that type of style then they should go with Schaub all the way. If they want to run a less complexed offense and one that takes more advantage of Vick's legs then he should be their QB. Seems like they tend to go back and forth with it. No matter what you think of the Falcons and the two QB's, that's bad coaching.
Quite Frankly just got done blaming everybody (Scouting Dept, GM, coaches, etc..) but Vick. I'm shocked. Sunday, Salisbury was saying that Schaub does not give Atl a chance to win. Its funny in the next segment as he was bagging on Eli for making poor decisions which he is. Eli is eons ahead of Ron Mexico when it comes to playing a QB on Sunday and that is indisputable.

I think the correlation on Vick's performance and a Falcon's loss is found in how many pass attempts he has in a game. I've stated this theory many times. His career winning % is around 60%. However in games where he throws 25 or more times he is now 12-17 counting this season. Personally I think it's okay for Vick to run...actually I would encourage it. I think that's what gives the Falcons the best chance to win.
