I just saw this article.
"After eight years in Phoenix, Shawn Marion wants to leave the Suns and has let the team know in recent weeks. "I'm tired of hearing my name in trades," Marion said by phone from his Chicago home Tuesday night. "I love my fans in Phoenix but I think it's time for me to move on." There are two known trade suitors in the Utah Jazz (for Andrei Kirilenko, if not others) and the Los Angeles Lakers (for Lamar Odom and a teammate), with Marion showing an interest in the latter because of a friendship with Kobe Bryant. "Regardless of everything that went on with the extension, I'm tired of hearing my name in trade rumors," Marion said. "It's time for me to move on. I felt like they tried to force my hand to Boston with the (Kevin) Garnett stuff." In June, there was the possibility of a three-way trade sending Garnett to Phoenix, a Boston pick package going to Minnesota and Marion to Boston with a contract extension but the Marion camp killed it. "I haven't done anything wrong," said Marion, a four-time All-Star. "I leave it on the floor night in and night out. Sometimes, it's just time, and it's time to go. "It's been like a nightmare. It hurts me making this phone call. It's hurting me in my stomach."
Do you think that the Nets could be able to acquire him from a trade ?

Re: Shawn Marion : Nash, Bell, Jefferson, Diaw, Stat
Nash, Bell, Diaw, Kirilenko, Stoudemire
Which is better?

Re: Shawn Marion : The only hope is Steve Kerr's admiration for RJ but I highly doubt that's enough to swing a deal like this. Boki and RJ for Marion works but that's still not on par with the Jazz or Laker offers unless moving him to the East is high on their priority list as well.

They would be nuts to trade Marion out west, especially within the division to the Lakers or to Utah (title contenders). Boki, RJ, and cash would be a good start and a decent deal as is.

Re: Shawn Marion : This is kinda bad because Marion works his ass off every night. The trade is down to money, Marions huge salary, right?

Re: Shawn Marion : I don't see him coming here.
I can't understand why he would want to go to the Lakers. They suck. Even with Kobe and Marion they're not beating the Spurs, Suns, Mavericks or the Jazz.

Re: Shawn Marion : Look at the past moves they have made, this will be a salary cap trade. I wish we had a big expiring deal.

Re: Shawn Marion : I just thought that it's strangebecause RJ never thought he is tired of being called in the trade rumor.

If they want to continue their running game, then they should look at Richard. It's not like his defense is bad, either.

Re: Shawn Marion : No way Suns move Marion east just for the sake of moving him. AK-47 on that roster, gets them younger, saves them immediate money and probably helps their running game. Will give Amare and the Suns an inside-outside option. Odom will keep the ball moving around.....only if the Suns are ready to win the next 2 years. As for VC or RJ? RJ fits better, but the Suns would want another piece, Boki would fit in nicely.

Re: Shawn Marion : suns might consider it if we add marcus. marcus could be the future PG of their system. RJ, Marcus, Boki would sound a lot better to them. we may have to add picks/cash to that as well.
and I would do it.
Kidd, Carter, Marion, Krstic, Magloire is championship material. Marion improves the defense exponentially--and doesnt need the ball to score--won't affect Vince and Kidd would be very pleased and happy passing to the best off-the-ball player in the league.

Just because he does not finish with crazy dunks doesnt mean he can't run. Plus AK47 would ignite many more fast breaks with his steals and blocks. Kirilenko would really work for the Suns, and I dont think they would regress at all with Kirilenko there instead of Marion--they might even get better provided AK47 stays relatively healthy. Getting AK47 would allow more of the offense to be run through Diaw again--especially after they spent all that money on Diaw. I don't think they save too much money in that scenario tho?

I'm not protective of Boki and Marcus, but where are thy going to get a backup PG and a scorer off the bench from the SF/PF position at this point? Besides, RJ himself is a plus defender when healthy. I'd really prefer to trade Carter for Marion, and try to coax Kittles out of retirement.

Re: Shawn Marion : Carter is pretty much untouchable for various reasons, one being he just signed a contract and can't be traded yet.
I don't see the point in trading Marcus, boki and RJ. We get a definite upgrade at the 4 which we need but we just kill our other postions. A team built around a few guys does not work, come on Nets fans we know this.
I prefer we go after AK because he would cost less to get.
