At first I didn't think it would be a possibility even if they went undefeated, but upon second look at the BCS standings, I think they have a legitimate shot of making it happen. They're 6th in the BCS Notre Dame, USC and Florida are the 3 1-loss teams ahead of them. Two of them have to play each other; Notre Dame and USC so that will eliminate one of them from the standings. Rutgers will probably need USC to win that game and for Cal to beat USC next Saturday. Then they'll just need Florida to drop their game to Florida St. or in the SEC title game, which could very well happen. We know that Michigan or Ohio St. will have a loss next week too. They probably need LSU to beat Arkansas too just for good measure, but there is one shocking thing in those rankings. The computers rank Rutgers #2 overall ahead of Ohio St. with Michigan occupying the #1 slot. Rutgers ranking will get better too if they can defeat West Virginia. The Big East has several teams with very good records and that equals good strength of schedule for Rutgers. I think if they go undefeated that the BCS standings will get them to #2. Wouldn't it be ironic if the part of the BCS almost everyone hates, the computers, is the only part to get it right and match up the only two undefeated teams in the country?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bears#1Fan)</div><div class='quotemain'>BSU is undefeated</div> Ok let me rephrase...Two undefeated teams from major conferences. Sorry, but BSU doesn't have the athletes to match up with any team in the major conferences. I fully expect them to be hammered by whatever team it is they end up facing in their BCS game. They've had some struggles the last few weeks with WAC opponents.
Rutgers runs table and doesnt go, i am quitting college football til thier is a playoff. I dotn care if non-BCS conference team misses it undefeated. I dont care if there are 3 undefeated teams and one doesnt get in. But if there are 2 major conference teams and the reason one of them doesnt go is cuz they started out of polls, i will have to give up on the BCS and college football
I am almost inclined to agree w/ BF1. Computers aren't meant to be perfect. Programs will share the flaws and biases of whoever codes them. Ohio St, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, & Texas are all in contention. If I did not have a calendar that said 2006... I could swear its 1976.

They lost this past weekend but hopefully y'all smell what I was cooking.
I think Ohio State or Michigan vs Rutgers would be a ratings monster....look what George Mason did for the NCAA tourney last year....David v. Goliath stories bring out the non fans and Rutgers would be a media darling....I dont usually make a point to watch the National Title game, but I would watch Rutgers and root for David all the way....if you have to leave D1-a because of no playoffs, I suggest finding a Div 1-AA team to root for, they actually have a good playoff system....

Quality of football just isnt there.

Delaware State is always a contender actually and so is Hampton. Those two are actually rivals...they play in the same conference. Montana is always dangerous. They can beat some of the lower level D-IA teams. Montana State actually beat Colorado this season...very depressing game for me. Then there's UMASS, but I'm pretty sure they're inconsistent although they have a good team this year.
I know you think the lvl of football is low down there, but it isnt, they play some pretty entertaining styles....Im a Furman Paladin fan of course, and Furman is always in the playoffs or in the playoff picture until the end....they were one win away from the National Title game last year....
