http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/bcs_explained.html The BCS is BS. The Badgers have no shot at going to a BCS Bowl Game. They could climb to #4 and if Michigan and Ohio State are ahead of them it wouldn't matter because 3 teams from one conference CANNOT play in the BCS in one year. That is a ridiculous rule because there is a great chance the Badgers climb to at least #6 with all the potential losing that is going to happen ahead of them but because of the rule Wisconsin can't get the invite to a major bowl game. Also the bias towards ND needs to stop. If their #8 in the standings they get an automatic birth..
That rule doesn't just apply to ND...it applies to any team not in a major conference. It was actually set in place after Boise St. didn't get in a couple years ago despite being ranked high in the BCS.

Badgers can finish no worse or better than 3rd in the Big 10 and who wants a 3rd place team? If we go w/ a 3rd place team then the team from the toughest conference (SEC) should go. LOL? I don't know if there is bias for Notre Dame but they sure gets alot of love for being an Independent.
Consider the fact that Wisconsin's only loss will be to Michigan and that Michigan or Ohio State will have a loss they will be tied 2nd in the conference but lose out to the BCS rankings. Also keep in mind there could be a dilemma in the future where 3 top 10 teams all finish with one loss in the same conference. Kind of what could happen in the Big East this year. It could very well happen in the Big Ten as well and probably will sooner or later. Also if Michigan blows out Ohio State in Columbus that should definitely cause a dilemma. The Badgers played well against Michigan and put up a fight in their only loss and Ohio State (for sake of discussion) got killed but because of the BCS lead the Buckeyes will finish ahead of Wisconsin and get the at large bid. The Badgers only loss this season would of come in Michigan and not by much. They don't deserve a BCS Bowl then? Only lost coming to the #1 team in the country and at their house. That's a pretty strong argument for them. Ohio State and Wisconsin don't play this year because of the scheduling so you can't crown who would be the #2 team. That would virtually be a tie. So the computers picks who is better no matter what and because of the lead, Ohio State wins out. That's not fair at all. It could happen in any conference as well and likely will happen sooner or later. Also BA I agree that the SEC is good enough to put 3 teams in the BCS. LSU, Florida, and Arkansas are all worthy of a BCS Bowls in my opinion. Let's say Arkansas beats Florida for the SEC Title. LSU could beat Arkansas in the coming weeks. Florida has already beaten LSU. Who's to say all 3 don't deserve a BCS Bowl Game this year? The computers decide but it looks like all 3 teams can make cases for an at large bid. Also keep in mind though Wisconsin handled Auburn fairly well last year so the 3rd place Big Ten team has proven to hold their own often against the 3rd place SEC Team. The Badgers did win that Capital One Bowl and if they do it again this year the SEC might have to move over for the Big Ten. Top to bottom the SEC is stronger than the Big Ten but the top half of Big Ten might be the best in the country especially if Wisconsin wins the Capital One Bowl again this year beating a team like LSU, Florida, Auburn, or Arkansas. What this rule pretty much has done is proven we need a playoff. Maybe take the top 12 and give your top 4 seeds a bye week. ESPN did do that in the summer for the sake of picking their Champion. Non major conference teams have to be ranked at #14 and unbeaten. ND only needs to be #8 and could have 3 losses and they get an automatic bid.
i hate hte BCS, I dont understand why there are so many rules and what not, 12 team playoff is my vote. they would probalby still use the BCS system though to figure out the top 12 teams anyway though. As for your complaint if Wisconsin finishes top 6 and doesnt get an auto bid because of that rule that cant be fair at all.

Fact is, if they won all their games they would be in. They didnt. Real problem is every team doesnt play each other in Big 10 (blame your conference) or have a title game to eliminate any doubt (blame conference again) This scenario could only happen in Big 10. No other conference is setup up in that way. Blame the conference. But really, blame wisconsin for losing. Thats what it really comes down to.

As does many other teams like Florida, Notre Dame, USC, etc... Who is to say Wisconsin isn't better than those teams? The BCS promises or is supposed to deliver the best teams playing the best teams. Well as far as I see Wisconsin is tied for 2nd best in the nation record wise. You can argue in favor of other conferences all you want but the fact is you don't know who is better until you play the game. The polls do this without any sort of fact to back it up and regular people have to much influence in this system and this is how it happens. If Michigan beats Ohio State who is to say Ohio State is better than Wisconsin? People who vote in the polls every year say this happen. The coaches poll is the most flawed poll in this country. The coaches don't even watch the games. They are coaching while the teams they vote for are playing. They may not even know how Florida won or how South Carolina lost. They may not even know how Oklahoma lost when they make the vote. I'm sure the Big Ten would gladly welcome another school to it's conference and split the conference to have a Title game but nobody wants to come in. Notre Dame would be a real good suitor for the Big Ten but they won't give up their Independent ranking. This would only make the Big Ten more money so I'm sure this is something that has been tried. In fact I remember reading about this right after the ACC got it's Championship game. Also this can happen in any conference. Like I said LSU, Florida, Arkansas could all end up beating each other yet only 2 gets to go to the BCS because of this rule. Who is to say that Florida is the best of those 3 or even LSU being the best? The polls and computer decide this not the football field. I have no problem with the SEC Title Game. Let the winner of the SEC get the higher seed in the playoff bracket but give teams a chance to play as well in a playoff system. Don?t pick who goes to the BCS because one was ranked higher in the polls to start the year so have more room for error. It very well could happen in the Big East. West Virginia could beat Rutgers. If this happens who is to say Rutgers doesn't deserve a BCS Bowl and Louisville and West Virginia does? Could happen in the ACC. Miami could beat FSU in the season and lose in the Title Game giving both one losses. Virginia Tech could have their only loss to Miami. Who decides who goes to the BCS. Not the players on the field but computers and since Miami's loss is fresh with the computers you'd likely see FSU and VT go in the scenario. If there was a playoff bracket there is a good chance all those teams get in because of their records and all have a fighting chance. The system is greatly flawed and this is one of the reasons. Polls have to much influence and there is a good chance Rutgers goes undefeated but misses the Title game because the pre season polls didn't like them. Not exactly fair.... There are so many flaws with this system.

Which conference it seems get screwed year in year out? Truth is; The SEC teams beat up on themselves so when it comes down to it, they can only "blame" themselves.
Also keep in mind though Wisconsin handled Auburn fairly well last year so the 3rd place Big Ten team has proven to hold their own often against the 3rd place SEC Team.
First, Badgers beating Auburn was last year and is irrelevant this year. Though, its been proven the Big 10 can hold their own against the SEC. Auburn this year is the 4th or 5th best SEC team. How can you say the SEC is better than contradict yourself? Could Purdue, Iowa, & NWestern (middle of the pack Big 10) consistently beat Tennessee, Bama, & Georgia (2nd tier SEC IMO). I don't think so.
Only way i see the complaint as legit is if there was nothing wisonsin could have done to make it into the BCS. Here is the beauty of the BCS. It creates controversy and there will be no playoff because of that. So, they add another game which means more TV revenue, more $ for the big boys, and still no clarity for the fans. This conspiracy is so transparent its beautiful.
The real truth is that no one with a loss, regardless of who it was too, deserves a BCS game....but, because there are 10 slots available, you have to take some one loss teams....no one that lost a game has any room to complain if they dont get in because they controlled thier own destiny and failed to get it done....

I was actually sirprised the Badgers got as high as they did but not that I don't think they deserve it. No matter what the BS system does with them I'm very impressed with how they progressed this year. I was just hoping they could stay ranked in the top 20. Porky you think we can make a run at the BIG 10 next year or will Ohio still be to strong?
I could say that the BCS is a conspiracy against the SEC. Which conference it seems get screwed year in year out? Truth is; The SEC teams beat up on themselves so when it comes down to it, they can only "blame" themselves.
I disagree that they can only blame themselves. If you beat up on each other then who deserves the bowl. Even the team that gets the BCS Bowl doesn't necessary deserve the bowl when it lost to a team with the same record and is playing an a lower bowl game. When you think of how much money the schools get for getting an invite it is a huge deal. A playoff would at least give every team a fighting chance and there wouldn't be any discussions such as this. Wisconsin beats Auburn last year but was not RANKED to start the year. Why because of the media hype. Auburn on the other hand was picked to play by many experts for the BCS Title. Auburn had much more error to give in the polls than the Badgers. No respect was even given to the Badgers for a bowl win to even start the year. If their going to have the BCS, then I think they need to do away with any polls for the 1st 6 or 7 weeks. They don?t use BCS rankings for the 1st month. Have no polls either and see the teams on the field first. No contradicting myself at all. I may of mis worded what I meant to say. Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin are better than Florida, Arkansas and LSU. If Wisconsin wins the Capital One Bowl again it'll only pretty much confirm it in my opinion. The top 3 of the Big Ten is the best 3 in any conference this year. The top of the Big Ten is better than the Top of the SEC. After that though the SEC is stronger with teams like Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Alabama. So if there is one conference that deserves 3 it?s the Big Ten?s 3. Comes down to money and they make more money this way. I think sooner or later there will be a playoff just not in this decade. It depends who leaves from Michigan though. Ohio State will probably lose a lot so I don?t see much drastic change in the Big Ten next year. Teams like Penn State, Indiana, and Illinois will be much better though and all I think can get to a Bowl next year. The Badges should have Ohio State and Michigan on their schedule and both games I believe will be in Madison unless I?m mistaken. They should be strong again next year especially with their playmakers returning. Offensive line will be hard to replace and Stocco is a great leader for them but Donovan and the transfer from Kansas State should be able to fill the hole.

Porky you think we can make a run at the BIG 10 next year or will Ohio still be to strong?</div> I know I'm not Porky, but I feel like I can answer. I look for Ohio St. to struggle on offense next year, particularly if Antonio Pittman decides to come out early. Some scouts are rating him the 5th best NFL prospect at RB which could mean late 1st round pick for Pittman. I expect him to stay, but they will still be left with probably a sophomore with no game experience or redshirt freshman at QB. Still, their defense will be really good with Marcus Freeman and James Laurinaitis. Michigan will still be dangerous offensively with only Steve Breaston being the biggest loss they'll suffer from their offense. They'll lose a lot of that great defense though including Leon Hall, LaMarr Woodley, David Harris, Prescott Burgess and maybe even Alan Branch if he decides to leave early. In other words, the opportunity should be real for Wisconsin. I think the Badgers could be even more dangerous offensively with Tyler Donovan at QB. He shouldn't replace Stocco, but Stocco is more of a bus driver than he is anything. Donovan has more playmaking ability. He really impressed me against Iowa. P.J. Hill is probably my favorite player in the country right now. He'll be compared to Ron Dayne, but I think he's better than the Great Dayne. Paul Hubbard will be back too. Their defense has been very good this season and the only significant player I can think of them losing is Roderick Rogers. I guess I could answer this more simply....I think Wisconsin should be favored to win the Big 10 next year!

So if a better overall team was ranked #6 or #7 but because of the polls ND ended up #8 they get a BCS Bowl. In my opinion if they want an automatic birth they should move into a conference and play a conference schedule. As for talent I'm not so sure. They have an okay offensive line and an okay defense. What they do have is a great Quarterback and a great passing attack along with a great coach. That can go along way but in terms of talent I don't think there is much seperation from the other one loss teams.

Next year they have to have a playoff system. The NCAA could make so much more money in all the games they could have with a playoff system. The top 10 or 12 teams would be good because one team like boise state or rutgers could go undefeated and not get voted into the championship game. At least in a playoff system these teams could have a shot, and create great football .
