My complaint is the rule benefits them even if they aren't in the Title picture. It benefits them as long as they are ranked #8 in the BCS. So if a better overall team was ranked #6 or #7 but because of the polls ND ended up #8 they get a BCS Bowl. In my opinion if they want an automatic birth they should move into a conference and play a conference schedule. As for talent I'm not so sure. They have an okay offensive line and an okay defense. What they do have is a great Quarterback and a great passing attack along with a great coach. That can go along way but in terms of talent I don't think there is much seperation from the other one loss teams.
Talent wise, I'd rank Florida higher. But talent isn't everything...
I would give the edge to Florida as well...They have a great defense...Though fi they were to meet up in a bowl game, it'd be a great game because Quinn is the class of college football...

They have a trio of great pass rushers at DE in Jarvis Moss, Ray McDonald, and Derrick Harvey. McDonald is versatile enough that he's now playing a lot more DT since Marcus Thomas was dismissed from the team. They also have great LBs in Brandon Siler and Earl Everett. Then there's a top notch safety in Reggie Nelson. They're equipped to stop anyone and are agressive similar to Michigan. Michigan drove Quinn nuts...Florida could do the same.
What a shload! OSU & Michigan remain 1 & 2. When you lose this late in the season, you don't deserve to be #2. USC IMO does not deserve it. Florida does especially if they beat the Noles & Arkansas. I am not the most objective person on this subject but a case could be made for some major disrespect towards the SEC.

After looking at the most recent standings, the margin may be too wide for Florida to overcome.... even with 2 games left to play. It is certainly too wide IMO for the Irish who are in 5th w/ only 1 game to go.

Also, no way ND gets in over michigan after the way michigan smoked them in south bend. USC has a shot at it, but i dont think they are more worthy either. arkansas is screwed. Its going to be USC or Michigan vs OSU. GO anyone but OSU!
The BCS is bullshit.....Now, Notre Dame has no ashot of making it to the title game...I think that if Michigan couldn't close the god damn deal when they had the chance then they don't deserve a re-match....Notre Dame has been playing great football and with a win over SC, it would mean they deserve to play for the title...It's BS, total BS..

Michigan beat them badly in their home stadium. Michigan proved they were the better team in terms of Notre Dame vs. Michigan.
You know what would solve alot of this IMO. If the PAC10 and Big10 got their arses in gear and had a playoff. Off course, it would mean expansion. Personally, I would love to see the U of Utah ditch the Mtn West and join the Pac 10.

There is a major difference in talent like you pointed out but don't forget the U shut down & lit up Georgia Tech last year. So, anything is possible. Over the past few years, Utah been the class of the conference. The problem is that the Utes; 1) underachieve, & 2) play at the same level of the coach's IQ. FWIW; there was a rumor years ago that Utah & Colorado would join the PAC 10 and BYU would take Colorado's place in Big 12.
Wouldn't it be cool if the same team won the title in Hoops and Football? This is exactly why the Gators won't come anywhere near the game in Glendale, AZ on 1/8/07.
