Just wondering if anyone else is watching the NFL network determining the best SB team of all time. IMO it's another one of those arguments that will never be right or wrong cause how do you know. Overall I'd have to say the 62 Packers are the greatest team but this is just SB winners so I'm going to have to watch more and think about it.

I watched a little of that show last night. My first inclination is to go with the 72 Dolphins because they were perfect, however if Don Shula feels that the 73 Dolphins were better then I vote for the 73 Dolphins. So, how do we finish the rest of this list?

    2000 Ravens. 2003 Bucs.

Those two pop in my head because of their amazing Ds.

those are atleast the best as far as my history goes. i wont speak for someone ive never seen play.

The most interesting thing I saw was the 72 Phins were actually underdogs going into the SB. I'm not going to take anything away from them cause they play who they're suppose to but they only played 2 teams over 500 during the year and they were only 8-6. So between the 2 I'd also take the 73 team.
Also 72 Phins and 96 Packers are the only teams in SB to lead league in D and O. That Packer team was only 13-3 but they said they played one of the toughest schedules ever from a SB winner

    would have to be mine-

Miami will always be a good team...but not as good as when Marino was the QB

85/86 Bears were the most awesome Superbowl team I've ever seen. I watched the Bears that entire season and that team was just downright scary from top to bottom.

Too bad the 71 team couldn't have won too since they were there. Who beat them anyway? :-)

Apologies to the 72 Dolphins and late 60s Packer teams since I did not watch them play, but without looking specifically at the recaps, I would say (in no order) these are the teams that I would have been least excited to play.

one of the late 70s Steelers
    85 Bears
    one of the 88-90 49ers
one of the mid 90s Cowboys

on the edge is the 99-00 Rams who did not have a great SB game, but had a great season that year. They were a little more one-dimensional just like a lot of the great defensive teams like the Giants and Ravens.

    Simple reason bears didnt repeat

    Mcmahon was injured.

    How you ask?

By dirty rotten cheating packer of course!

Late hit = 1 to 3 seconds after play

Felony assualt 4-6 seconds after play

Conspiracy by NFL and Packers, orchestrated by a young farve to hold Bears down

picking up QB and slamming him on previously injured shoulder 7 seconds after play

I know that play I didn't remember it was that year. I think all the blame falls on Forrest Gregg who was a great player but terrible coach. He had his players playing like thugs and on that Charles Martin play it was a shame for a proud franchise. Any fan who tries to defend that isn't doing the organization any good. I actually just fininshed reading what a grump Forrest was as coach which is why he was known as Forrest Grump

I think you have to look at the two other great teams they were competing with at that time. The 49ers and Giants were great too. The NFC in the mid-80's was a very tough conference. That's why the Niners of that age deserve so much respect. They had to get by Chicago and the Giants yearly just to get to the Super Bowl. Both of those teams had two of the top defenses in the history of the league at the time.

That's great except the 70's had exceptional Dolphins, Steelers, Raiders and Cowboys teams so the competition was just as great if not greater.

I thought the question was for the best SB team, not best dynasty.
