Bringing this back up. The countdown continues so far. This has been one of the best shows on television and by far the best thing the NFL Films has done. I've been blown away by everyone. The 66 Packers are rated #6 and most seem to think that team doesn't even compare with the 62 Packers Interesting on how they'd compare the 62 Packers to the rest of the Super Bowl Teams. Frankly it's hard to argue with the Dolphins perfection but it's hard to go against Lombardi.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (DolfanDale)</div><div class='quotemain'>I watched a little of that show last night. My first inclination is to go with the 72 Dolphins because they were perfect, however if Don Shula feels that the 73 Dolphins were better then I vote for the 73 Dolphins. So, how do we finish the rest of this list? 1. 73 Dolphins 2. 72 Dolphins 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.</div> The '72 Dolphins are the best Super Bowl team ever IMO because they were perfect. No other team can say that. Not even the mighty '85 Bears or the Steel Curtain teams.

Then again that's not their fault. They did what they were asked to do. Best single season in history for sure.

So since dolphins didnt beat anyone of note other than playoffs (which every championship team is undefeated during) the accomplish is less than what some other teams have accomplished.
^^ That's an interesting comparison BF1, so maybe they should come up with a formula that combines strength of schedule with win percentage?

I'm not sure looking at box scores tells us how good this team was anymore than looking at the box scores for the Super Bowl Champion Ravens will tell people 10-20 years from now. As one of the older posters here, who didn't get to see them play, I doubt many of us gotten to see anything other than old NFL Films clips which just aren't the same as watching a team play at game speed over several weeks. There are a few things that stick out about this team. They had TWO thousand yard rushers and a 500 yard rusher in a 14 game schedule. The 72 Dolphins stayed undefeated even though they lost their future Hall of Fame QB, Bob Griese, for a long portion of the season with a broken leg. (I will concede that they might not have beaten the Steelers in the Championship game had Griese not come in for Morrall.) The defense only allowed three teams to score more than 20 points and no one to score more than 24. They would have had a shutout in the Super Bowl except Garo Yepremian lost his mind and tried to throw a pass on a botched field goal attempt. If the weak schedule bothers you then go check out the 73 Dolphins, who only lost two games while playing with pretty much the same roster. Again, only two teams scored more than 20 points and the only team that scored more than 24 points were the Steelers who scored 26 and would go on to win the Super Bowl the two following years. 32-2 in two years. The 17-0 Dolphins were no fluke.
my list... 1.'72 Dolphins(Nothing beats perfection) 2.'84 Niners(15-1 Regular Season, 38-16 Super Bowl route of Dan Marino) 3.'85 Bears(Ofcourse, every1 has heard it millions of times...) 4.'88 Niners(Underrated with a 14-2 Regular season and capped it off with a 55-10 super bowl route of John Elway) 5.'92 Cowboys(Can't deny this team who went 13-3 in Regular season then took out JKerry Rice/Steve Young,14-2 Niners in NFC title game and followed that performance up with a 52-17 massacring of the Buffalo Bills.
