Sep 26 - Former Gophers basketball assistant Jimmy Williams, in town the other day working out new Timberwolf Gerald Green, told friends the 6-foot-8 forward will be the best shooter on the team, if he isn't already.

Timberwolves vice president Kevin McHale, asked Tuesday the status of trade talks as his team prepares to begin training camp: "Slow, slow, slow." -- St. Paul Pioneer Press

[*]Second-round draft pick Chris Richard -- Brewer's teammate at Florida -- remains unsigned. Nearly all second-round picks sign for the league minimum salary -- $427,163 this season -- but at issue is the amount of guaranteed money, if any, for this season and possibly successive seasons. Richard has been in town for about a month, working out daily with his new teammates.

Second-year forward Craig Smith, who impressed during summer-league play with his leaner physique and productive play, sprained an ankle during a workout Monday and is expected to be sidelined for the opening days of training camp, McHale said.

Veteran forward Mark Madsen is on schedule for a mid-November return from a shoulder injury sustained in a personal watercraft accident in August, Wittman said. -- Minneapolis Star Tribune

Hard to believe, but it may be true. Gerald's got ridiculous range and a great stroke. I would say he has the most range on the team though.

It depends on how McCants returns. If he plays like he did at the end of his rookie year, he will be the best shooter on the team
