I don't know why you keep arguing how great they have been. Battle has only 3 games with 40 or more yards and he's been great? I guess you have a lower standard of greatness in San Fran. Bryant topped 100 yards receiving the 1st two games of the season and hasn't been close to the century mark since. Everyone complains about TO, but Bryant has been a headcase off and on the field throughout his career and he could only dream of the production that TO can amount. Bryant has 54 yards a game and 2 TDs and he's great? Give me a break. He's not producing. Frank Gore is the only true weapon you have on offense and he hardly scores too. Your offense averages 18 points a game and that's an improvement. Your receivers are average at best. Battle would be a 3rd or even 4th WR on most teams in the NFL. Bryant is a 2nd WR on most teams. They're complimentary players, not marquee players. Neither of them is great and now you'll be without both of them. Oooohhh scary receivers now. I mean Bryan Gilmore he has all of what? 7 catches? Your receivers are not great as you called them. They're average and that's when they're playing their best. Tell me how the stats are lying about their production. "Oh well Bryant averages 17 yards a catch!" Yeah and he catches two or three passes a game and he's not worth the headaches he gives you off the field and in the lockerroom. His prior two employers were happy to see him leave. "Battle catches big 3rd down passes and gets us 1st downs!" Again, he catches 2 or 3 balls a game. I'll reiterate...they are not great. You said "Battle has been great" is one of your previous posts in this thread right after you called the receiving core "solid". Haha...you can have a solid receiving core. Me? I'll take one that's extraordinary. What you don't understand is that I have a job where watching football is apart of it. So I watch plenty of football on high school, college and pro levels. Do I watch every San Fran game? No...personally, I have no desire to...I like to watch good football. But I do watch a game every now and then to have at least some idea as to what is going on with the team on the field. Battle has 22 1st downs this season. Honestly, that's not very impressive considering that most 2nd WRs on teams have between 30 and 45. Oh yeah...he gets a lot of end arounds? That's why he has 3 carries all season for a whole 3 yards? Oh, but stats don't mean anything...sorry! Or wait! That means that Gilmore is getting all the end arounds. Yeah...he has a whole 4 carries. Wow almost as many receptions he has on the year. Say what you want about the game within the game...but stats are stats. They're just lying right? Battle gets almost no yards and gets you 2 1st downs a game and a yard on end arounds and he's great?! This is a position in need of a major upgrade for the 49ers.

How is Gilmore great in many different roles when he's touched the ball all of 11 times in 10 games? That's just ludicrous. Not being credited for TDs that were taken back for whatever reason is just a testiment to your team. This team is 5-5 only because of the weak division in which they play. Who have they beaten that's worthwhile? Seattle was your biggest game of the year? No Hasselbeck and no Alexander makes Seattle a sub par team. I've posted several times when I've acknowledged the 49ers of the past as great. One can't deny that. It would be stupid if I did. This 49ers team is below average. I say negative things about them all the time because that's what I see...a lot of negatives. Are they playing better? Sure. Does that make them a good team? No. They're 5-5 with the 7th worst strength of schedule in the league. They lose to good teams and they lose to bad teams. They haven't beaten a good team yet.
The Seahakws are a solid team that the Niners manhandled on Sunday..They had Shaun Alexander back and were missing their starting QB but they have been winning w/o him anyway... I'm not saying the team is great, I am stating the vast improvements that they have undergone this season and they are a much better team then you like to give them credit for....Please don't bash my team because you have an obvious bias against them.... I don't go into the Cowboy forum bashing the crap out of them..I'm sorry but it is quite irritating to hear all ur sh** continually plastered over this forum...You have pretty much ruined this and taken all the spotlight off of what the forum is about...Please enlighten me with your intelligence by reading the reson I actually posted the topic in the firstplace...It's to discuss my team's playoff hopes..Post about that pleease instead of the continued harrassment of me over anything I give my team soem props for...

This topic took the diversion to what we're currently talking about before I even started posting. Go into a Cowboys forum and bash them...that's fine. I don't care. I got into Cowboys forums and bash them myself. I'll bash whoever deserves bashing and praise whoever deserves praising. If you don't like what I post then don't read it...no one forces you to...last I checked I wasn't holding a gun to your head forcing you to do so. My bias that you speak of is for good vs. bad. The 49ers are full of the bad. Alexander wasn't even at 100%. Anyone who watched that game, which I happened to do, could tell that he wasn't at 100%. Frank Gore almost gave the game away with yet another fumble. The offense is improved, but it's not like they could get much worse either. They had no where to go but up. Alex Smith can actually take a snap without fumbling it now. He actually has TD passes this year. That's improvement. You have a running game this season. That's improvement. Actually, I'm very impressed with Frank Gore. I'm glad he can stay healthy and finally live up to his potential he's posessed since attending Miami U. Solid...you seem to like this word. Evidentally it doesn't mean good because you've corrected me about calling it that already. Like I said...the Niners haven't beaten anyone decent. A 100% Alexander and the return of Hasselbeck would be enough to beat the Niners anyday. If you're taking it as personal harassment then you are taking this way too personally. I am not attacking you personally and am yet to attack you personally. You're the one into personal attacks. I am stating my opinion, which I back up with facts, about the 49ers. Never have I attacked you so it can't be harassment.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TP-33)</div><div class='quotemain'>K, so what are your views on the Niner playoff hopes then?</div> They have to win the division to get in and I don't see that happening when Seattle is completely healthy..aka. get Hasselbeck back and get Alexander going at full strength. I look at their schedule and see 3 games that I think they will lose for sure...New Orleans, Seattle and Denver. St. Louis could give them fits too if they don't get any pressure on Bulger. Same with Green Bay....The pass defense is better thanks to better pass rush from Lawson and Moore, but they are still very suspect in their secondary especially with Tony Parrish out. I think Green Bay matches up favorably with San Fran. The Packers have a good run defense and can put the game in Smith's hands. That's bad news for the Niners. I see them at 8-8 at best. 6-10 at worst....
