Is Ladanian Tomlinson the equivalent to Wayne Gretszky?

it seems like LT does something amazing every week. This week he set the record for fastest to 100 TDs, by 4 games, and he has 103. Year in and year out, he has put up amazing numbers.

so, is LT the athlete of the decade? possibly soon to be the best player at his position? again, i am young and missed out on the greats of the past, but still, LT is pretty unstoppable, or so it looks.

    opinions.

He might be the best running back I ever saw. I might be jumping the gun on that but he does everything. He's a dual threat back. He'll run the ball well and he can catch the ball well. He's now doing all this on fewer touches. They give Turner the ball more than they used to and that take some carries away from L.T. What does L.T do? Makes better of fewer touches.

He's certainly a fun guy to watch.

Tomlinson is amazing, but not the greatest. Walter Payton may be the best all around back that I've ever seen. Barry Sanders the most elusive. Earl Campbell the most powerful. Larry Csonka the toughest. I wish ESPN Classic or the NFL Network would dig deeper in the vaults and air games oler than 5 or 6 years old. I'm talking broadcasts and not NFL Films projects because I'd like to see Jim Brown at game speed rather than slo-mo. I must admit that Tomlinson has surprised me this year. I thought that losing Brees would cause defenses to focus on LT and his production would drop, but it hasn't. Hats off to LT.

Remember that LT was the focus of opposing defenses for 3 seasons before Brees finally started making a difference in the passing game. He was all that the Chargers had after they drafted him. He's the only running back in the league right now with a legitimate shot at breaking Emmitt's all time rushing record. Personally, I think that he could end up being the best ever when his career is over.

I remember LT before Brees. That's another reason I thought there would be a decline. LT has taken a lot of punishment the past several years. I did find it fascinating to listen to LT, on TV this past week, talk about his stiff arm. He said that uses it because he doesn't like to let defenders get into his body. That may be one reason he can handle so many carries. I have no doubt that LT will reach the upper echelon of rushers before he is done, but I'm not ready to crown him. Not yet.

LT is not the greatest running back ever, but there is potential. Really, he has just passed Terrell Davis. We heard the same thing about Davis after four seasons, that were just as good as LTs. If LT continues to maintain what he does best, improve the little things, and stay healthy, he has a chance to be considered one of the best.

He is definitely the front runner for MVP this season for sure though. Especially if he breaks Shaun Alexander's touchdown record, which is more than likely.

Yeah it is pretty much guarenteed, unless some freak accident occurs. He is definitely the top back right now, and is on pace to having his name mentioned among the all time bests at his position. Not only is he one of the best players in the NFL today, but is also one of the classiest as well.

He's tied the record now. My guess is he finishes with 32 td's and 1 SB ring
