http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/481...obe_talk_trade/
Shawn Marion was bringing the good news. If you're a Lakers fan.
"I'm definitely interested in the Lakers," the Phoenix Suns forward said.
More than that, he said he talked to Kobe Bryant, and Bryant "embraced it.

Said Marion: "He wants to make it happen."
If Bryant cares about what trades the Lakers make and thinks adding Marion would help, at least it's an indication that he's thinking about the Lakers as "we" not "them."
Please!!! not for odom!!! we would go from 8th in the west to 7th... Wow! hahaha
The suns could use kwame's expiring to relieve some cap space

Salary wise a trade of:
Marion for Kwame + Vlad works
Vlad - helps them in their run n gun offence
kwame - cap space that the owner wants as not to be over the cap and can help sign role players that would strengthen a core of nash, barbosa, bell, diaw, amare

Things like this should be against the rules.
Kobe and Marion talking like that and the press printing it makes it a lot harder for Phoenix to get a fair deal. Just my 2 cents.

Kerr would have to be smokin that la la la to do that deal. (maybe he is; I heard he's been hangin out with Bill Walton lately) The Lakers are going to lose Lamar Odom at the least if this deal were to happen. You'll probably also lose a few extra players just to give Phoenix incentive for this trade. Don't be surprised if Bynum's mentioned in the talks. Although he probably won't be ultimately included, that's the kind of ballast that would be needed to make this trade fair. I can see Kwame and maybe Vujacik being thrown in with Odom, and Phoenix doing what it takes to balance that salary-wise(although since Marioni makes 3 mil/yr more than Odom, it might not take much).

I'm sure this happens all the time and I doubt it has much effect on where a player ends up being traded or not traded to. What sports agents are allowed to do is more troublesome to me than players talking with one another about playing on the same team one day.

They wouldn't surrender him for Jermaine O'neal or Jason Kidd, so I can't see them giving him and Odom up for a small forward. If Phoenix wants Kwame and Sasha included, I'd gift wrap them personally to get them out of LA. It still seems farfetched for these teams to make a deal like this, but I'm hoping the Lakers can get something done.

If he and Kobe want to talk thats fine but keep it between them. Marion just hindered Kerr's hand.

Yeah I have no problem shipping out Odom, Kwame, and Sasha for Marion + Marcus Banks
Marion is an upgrade over Odom and both Kwame and Sasha are easily replaced on the roster. The Suns get Kwame's expiring contract, but they won't benefit from it because they're already over the cap for next season.
Lakers would lose some size in this deal and hava a log jam at PG if Banks was included, but a lot of teams are in search of a quality guard. Maybe the Lakers could turnaround and deal one of their young PGs to Cleveland for Varejao.

Kwame would put them further under the cap, but I think kobe23 was under the assumption the Suns could turnaround and sign a player for $9M next summer. They'd get rid of a whiney Marion who produces, but take back an alcoholic who doesn't take his job serious. Who would you rather deal with?

I think this trade is very unlickely know because I doubt that PHX will want to help out the Lakers and know that PHX is saying that a deal for Marion is unlickely I really find it hard for the Lakers to trade for Marion.

This has come up in the past...and honestly. I would rather have Odom than Marion. When healthy, Lamar Odom is simply a better player. In the playoffs, the last 2 years Odom has overpowered Marion, especially in 2006 when he was healthy. If we do, do this though...I wouldn't be that disappointed. Marion isn't as injury prone and we need a change.
