Notre Dame coach Charlie Weiss had gastric bypass surgery (stomach stapling) in 2002 after balooning to well over 300 lbs. He was in a coma for two weeks and nearly lost his life in complications that arose from the surgery. Now he looks fatter than ever! What's next? Will he get his jaw wired or explode?
CW is pretty hefty but nothing compared to Mangino of Kansas, Freidgen of Maryland, or the Toldeo coach.

That's the part that mind blowing. How do you keep gaining after that?

Your stomach is smaller, so you feel full on much less food, is the idea behind it. I don't believe CW had that done to him, because he would not be that big if that were true.
No it actually happend, he nearly died, I believe it was shortly after the Pats first championship in fact.
Weis did have bypass surgery....shortly after the Pats 1st Super Bowl he interviewed for several NFL jobs but wasnt hired....somehow, he got it in his mind that his weight was the reason he ws being passed over for NFL jobs so he did the surgery and it nearly killed him....Im pretty sure that with the complications of the surgery, they couldnt leave it stapled and so he really never saw any benefit....
^^ If he would of had the staples in and gained a bunch of weight it would have popped the staples, which I would imagine would have put him in the hospital and would have been on ESPN.
