LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Despite the Los Angeles Dodgers' recentstruggles, James Loney is still swing the bat pretty well.

Loney will look to help the Dodgers snap their three-game losingstreak when they host the rival San Francisco Giants in theopener of a three-game series on Friday.


The 23-year-old Loney is on a six-game hitting streak, going13-for-26 (.500) with two home runs and eight RBI over thatstretch. He is batting .337 with 14 homers and 66 RBI on theseason after being called up in June.


Los Angeles will send veteran lefthander David Wells (8-9, 5.53ERA) to the mound. The 44-year-old Wells has won three of hisfour decisions since coming over from the San Diego Padres onAugust 25.


The 21-year veteran will be opposed by righthander Kevin Correia(4-6, 3.20), who is unbeaten as a starter this season. Inseven starts this season, Correia is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA. TheGiants have won eight straight contests in which Correia hastaken the hill.


The 27-year-old Correia pitched seven scoreless innings but didnot receive a decision of Saturday's 2-0 triumph over theCincinnati Reds. He yielded five hits and two walks with sixstrikeouts.

<div class="pre">LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Dodgers' season is</div>ending in two days but the future looks promising with playerslike James Loney in the lineup.


Loney will hope to continue his torrid hitting when the Dodgershost the rival San Francisco Giants in the second of athree-game series Saturday.


The 23-year-old Loney belted a solo home run in Friday's 8-3triumph over the Giants. The second-year first baseman iscurrently on a seven-game hitting streak, going 14-of-30 (.467)with three home runs and nine RBI over that stretch.

A native of Houston, Texas, Loney is batting .336 with 15 blastsand 67 RBI since being called up in June.


Los Angeles will give the ball to righthander Chad Billingsley(12-5, 3.09 ERA), who has been impressive throughout September.The 23-year-old Billingsley is 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA in fivestarts this month.


San Francisco starter Travis Blackley (0-0, 3.60) will make hissecond start of the season. The Australian lefthander, who hasnot won since 2004, gave up two runs on three hits and fourwalks with five strikeouts over five innings in a 5-4 victoryover the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.


The Giants have lost three consecutive games.

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers will be going fora three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants when the twoteams meet in the regular-season finale on Sunday.

The Giants have lost four games in a row and were defeated byLos Angeles, 6-5, in 10 innings on Saturday.


Luis Gonzalez had the game-winning hit for the Dodgers, who havestill lost 10 of their last 13 games despite winning the pasttwo.


Barry Zito (10-13, 4.63 ERA) will be taking the mound for theGiants. He notched his first win in over a month on Mondaydespite allowing four runs and eight hits over five innings in a9-4 win over the San Diego Padres. The victory extended hisstreak of 10 or more wins in a season to seven.


Over five career turns against the Dodgers, the lefthander is2-2 with a 4.68 ERA.


Eric Stults (4-8, 5.34) will be making just his fifth start ofthe season and first one since September 5. On that day againstthe Chicago Cubs, he allowed four runs - three earned - andeight hits over 4 1/3 innings in an 8-2 setback.


In four starts this campaign, the righthander is 1-2 with a 4.22ERA. Stults has a limited track record against the Giants,posting a 2.70 ERA in one career start and one relief appearance- spanning 6 2/3 innings.
