QUOTE (cpawfan)

I think this is great news. It forces Rod to get a real backup PG for the roster.

I think it sucks because it keeps the situation as it is now for an extended period.
I would rather the Nets know their long term plans for this guy as soon as possible.
Also, if they don't find a decent backup, and my guess is they won't, it means they will foolishly use Kidd more early in the season.
But since Kidd is an indestructable Superman and not a banged up 34 year old with tons of mileage on him, it will have no effect during the playoffs.

Oh my god!! Awful, awful news. This better not be like last season where the injuries started piling up one by one. Let's see if he recovers quickly, because last season he was very determined to get better, when he faced a couple of minor injuries.

This is very minor in the overall scheme of things.
The team will suffer much worse injuries before all is said and done.
It will be interesting to see if they address this from within with Carter and Hite or go out and acquire/sign another PG.
When did I start posting using the Ghoti one-sentence paragraph method?
It is pretty embarassing.

Any back-up PG we sign won't be nearly as good as Marcus. Personally, I would rather just go with the Hite/Carter backup PG combination rather than let someone take Houston, Jones or Benson's spot on the roster. Or we could use a bunch of 1-week contracts.

Tough news to swallow. Hopefully it isn't too serious and the surgery doesn't take away from Marcus's speed and agility.

very unfortunete for him, hopefully during this off time, he doesn't get carried away and gain weight.

His lateral movement declined in a hurry and he had a tough time staying in front of his man. Hopefully Marcus doesn't have any setbacks in his recovery.

Now the preseason games won't be fun, I am expecting so much to watch Marcus Williams lead the 2nd unit to beat the Celtics subs in the pre-season, now it won't be that fun, damn it, and we have 2 games against Celtics in the first month of the season, now it's very tough for the Nets.

QUOTE (GArenas)

Tough loss for the Nets, and it'll be hard for Williams to come back in middle of the season and get back into NBA form. Marcus out for at least 10 games. i doubt it'll be JUST 10 games, i wouldn't be surprised if he waited till December, just to be safe.
What happened to the Nets having the best trainer a couple years ago? Seems as if we need to hire a new one, haha.
