Is Shanahan desperate? Throwing in the towel? Watching Fox Sports Rocky Mtn, I can't help but think that the Donkeys can catch lightning in a bottle like Dallas did w/ Romo... difference is Romo was in the league for 3 plus seasons before getting his chance to be an overnight success. Thoughts?

Thoughts?</div> I thought Cutler looked great when I watched him in the pre-season. I expect big things from him, if not this year, in the near future. It seems obvious they can't win it all with Plummer, so it just doesn't make a lot of sence to leave someone as good as Cultler sit. I'm sure Leinert, Young and now Romo doing pretty well, made the choice a little easier.
Remember that Phillip Rivers is also starting for his first season in the NFL. He was like Romo, sitting on the bench 3 years just biding him time. A little different in that Rivers was a very high draft pick while Romo wasn't drafted at all.
Leinart IMO was a gamble which appears to have paid off. I don't how how but I forgot about Rivers. All 1st round QB's drafted this past april will do well. VY is doing better than I thought which surprises me. Clemens w/ the jets will do best off all IMO.
I think it is a mistake. You let your young QBs sit for a year or two to watch how the game is played, to learn. The only way I can see this working to Denver's benefit is if they simplify the offense so much that they only ask Cutler to throw 10 - 15 times a game (somewhat like Rivers is asked to do, a lot like what Big Ben was asked to do).
Here IMO is where we'll see if Shanahan is truly the genius people claim he is. If the Bronco RB's were tearing it up like they have in the past then starting Cutler might be okay. Since, they aren't...
I'm anxious to see how the kid does. He was the hype of the draft especially by one Mike Mayock of NFL Network. If he weren't playing for Denver I'd probably root for him to do well.
I think he'll have his share of struggles but he probably won't do worse than Plummer. He has a strong arm and Walker gives them a deep threat. With that said I'm having trouble thinking Denver can make the playoffs. I think they'll be fighting for that #6 spot but I see the Bengals getting in over them. Down the stretch I have trouble thinking a rookie can do well. Remember unlike Rivers and Romo this is his first year in this system.

Putting Cutler in means that if they can just let him play the role of managing the offense, basically what Pittsburgh did with Ben. But if they really have trust in him, they will let him loose like what the Chargers did with Philip Rivers. But I doubt they would do that in his rookie year.

Plummer was a piece of the team that has performed decently to this point. Can they be a playoff team with Plummer? Sure. Can the win the Superbowl with him? That's the question. I have no problem with Cutler, but whether or not Plummer is the holding the team back, I don't think Cutler is the missing link to take them to the promised land. In fact, I'd go the other direction that while Plummer isn't playing that way either, he could get hot and he has experience. In many minds, there isn't much difference between 2nd loser and 10th loser. I don't necessarily think that way, so unless you are playing for experience next year, I would question the change.
He made some costly rookie mistakes today in the game versus Seattle, but that was expected. Now he has to prepare to face the Chargers at San Diego next week, who are currently leading the league in sacks. Having Merriman back will just make things harder for him as well. It's going to be tough for Denver to secure a wild card berth at this point.
Cutler starting is great for other AFC wildcard teams like the Jets i personally disagree completely with the move they should keep Plummer in the whole year now they are stuck with a rookie who needs time to develop. he'll be good one day but they cant rely on him now and its going to cost them a playoff spot.
I think the move was a good one. Jake Plummer wasn't getting any better and I think that he would have to in order for the Broncos to be able to beat anyone, other than the Patriots, in the playoffs. I think the Chargers and Colts (and maybe the Bengals) are too much for the Broncos on offense right now. So, you go ahead and play Cutler and let him get experience so that your not playing what would be, essentially, a rookie next year when you still should have a good team. The only thing that bothers me about this position is that Deion Sanders took pretty much the same stance on GAMEDAY last night and I hate having the same opinion as Deion.

Actually, Sasha's high flying skills make her more suited for luche libre wrestling. She's pretty good at jumping on me from the back of the couch. She does a frog splash only she lands on her feet usually in the middle of my stomach. :reallysick:
Thanks to Cutler, the Seahawks' defense scored enough points to keep me in playoff contention. So...GO CUTLER!
