Well as everyone knows Halo 3 officially launched and every 10 o clock news in NYC mentioned the craziness happening in Manhattan because of Halo 3...it was like a big party at every game store...Microsoft even had the street closed down so they can bring in the game and do some crazy events like driving quad bikes...will Rockstar do something similar with GTA IV? And will GTA IV be able to out sell Halo 3 and win the record that Halo currently hold? What are your opinions?

Tough question. Halo 3 has gotten lots of media attention, but GTA will be multiplatform. I don't know, I don't think GTA will be as hyped as Halo.
The GTA series are way more reconized by people around the world, and sense GTAIV will be for the PS3!!! and the 360 I beleive that GTAIV will out-sell Halo 3.GTAIV=Yello smiley Halo 3=Light blue smiley

Considering Halo 2 was the game with the record before Halo 3, I think Halo 3 will keep the record.
GTAIV should be better than Halo 3. I'm not even that big on GTA's anymore, but Halo 3 was just a monumental disappointment. The campaign mode is the biggest piece of trash in video game history.

I never actually played the first two games, so I'm not sure on the story. But Halo 3 does a horrible job telling its story. Its story makes less sense than Perfect Dark Zero.
And I'm not a graphics whore or anything, but these graphics are inexcusable. They are about the same as Perfect Dark Zero's...a launch title.
Bungie really dropped the ball here. The game will still sell many XBOX's, but the gamers like me will know that the game really sucks. Too bad there is no Banjo Threeie coming out to make theere a worthwhile 360 exclusive for the rest of the year. I'll probably shelf Halo 3 on Tuesday, and hardly touch it, playing mostly NBA 2k8 (and I'm not a big fan of that series either, last great one was 2k3).

O well, We have a game that can save us and that is only for the PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4 (Best Game Ever) coming Q1 2008

Obviously Bungie is doing something good with Halo 3 as is it holds the record for the best single day sales and scoring near perfect reviews across the board, me personally I love the Halo franchise and think it brings in alot of replay value with its addictive multiplayer and fun campaign. Now im not saying that you have to like Halo 3 because maybe FPS or Sci-Fi games are not genres you enjoy but give credit where it is due and hopefully you could play through the campaign and realize that the graphics are actually really good and that the story is actually pretty decent to deter from senseless killing.

Yeah, well, you have to admit, everyone expected it to be the same anyway. But still a big buy for all 360 owners. My 360 just got a the RRoD yestreday. >.<

GTA doesn't need all this.
When Vice City and San Andreas came out I don't remember this much hubab and people were lining up at every game store.

Just not Halo CE or Halo 2. Halo 3 isn't that great of a game so far for me. Gears of War just sweeps the floor with Halo 3, campaign wise, graphics wise, story wise (and it was a basic story too), etc.
I tend to agree with what the IGN guys said in their review:

8.9 for Halo 3....right after that, they gave SKATE a 9.3, BioShock 9.5, Gears of War a 9.4.
Halo 3 is an alright game...but for all the hype, and expectations, for it not to be game of the year quality, is a resounding disappointment.
The AI in the single player campaign is horrible. Instead I had to jump off, shoot a guy on a Ghost with a shotgun, and use the Ghost to get to the part with the 2 spider thingies. Thats horrible. Not sure how crap like that got out of the studio. The vehicle portions of the game have all been horribly unfun. The first two missions are such a waste. The action picks up in mission 4, and thats good, but when you compare it to a game like GOW, in which the single player campaign is so memorable, with great graphics and environments, and then give XBOX quality graphics, with a campaign that you will want to forget, its very hard to be satisfied dropping $60 for this game. I'd be even more disgusted if I dropped $460 for this game and a 360, because Halo 3 isn't that good.
BioShock, Kameo, Oblivion and Gears of War are on my shortlist of games for others to buy before Halo 3.
Halo 3 is just a nudge better than PDZ imho.

About the campaign, no it didnt really blow me out of the water like Halo CE did and GoW did but it was still fun to play and was well worth the $$ for me as the hidden skulls give alot of replay value and the multiplayer on XBL is second to none along with the countless of possibilites using the Forge. As for sales between Halo 3 and GTA4, I dont think GTA stands a chance...not saying the game isnt going to be as great as Halo 3 but the buzz for it just wont be there as it was for Halo 3 cause Bungie pretty much had the support of Microsoft to advertise the crap out of Halo so I doubt GTA will be able to create that large amount of buzz for their game.

Found another problem with Halo 3. It doesn't register achievements all the time. You think they would have fixed this problem after it first happened in Kameo during launch.

The Halo series are just way to fake and unrealist, I mean come on you have these guys with retarded suits and sloppy guns tring to kill aliens I beleive that are trying to take over the world or something. The guys with the suits can jump like 100 feet in the air...(unrealist) So basically I beleive that GTAIV will out-sell Halo 3.

Halo's alot like the Southern rappers--they sell alot based on catchy shit, almost pop shit, and based on recognition...and because it's "the cool thing to do". and NOT because they're the greatest thing ever made.
Halo's an overrated game. Sure, the multiplayer is fun, but that's probably because EVERYONE plays it. there's definitely better multiplayer out there, and i'll give FEAR as an example. and there's definitely better overall games out there.
I think GTA will be better than Halo, and hell, even MGS will be even better.

gta4 will be good, no doubt about that. but halo has its own fans, its an online game (and its breaking all the records at it too).
As for me i still prefer counter strike for online, so much fun even though the game is like 6 years old, its still damn good.
