That's....dumb. That's one of those deals where the two guys are so similiar it's not even worth doing.

QUOTE (Dre)

That's....dumb. That's one of those deals where the two guys are so similiar it's not even worth doing.

No way. I wasn't even going to mention the shorter contract attached to Hassell, b/c IMO that's a bad thing, the Mavs should want to keep him as long as possible. But Hassell's definitely far superior to Buckner. Both are hustle guys who are known primarily for their defense, and I'm assuming that's what you're talking about. But Hassell's a lock down defender, and I'd put him closer to Bowen than Buckner. And I think he'll definitely get more burn in the Dallas system than Buckner's been getting.
This shows me that the Mavs really are serious about winning, and serious that they think they have the pieces to do it, minus a few tuneup points such as this. That's essentially what the Bulls did between 1989 and 1991, and it eventually worked.

QUOTE (tim)

The only reason the Wolves did the deal was so they could sign Chris Richard.

Wow. That doesn't make it a better trade, tho. I'm really wondering why McHale hasn't been fired already.
