Lloyd Carr has it right though....there will be controversy no matter which team is selected. Sounds like another coach chiming in for a playoff system to me.
They need a playoff. Either or this isn't good for college football. Michigan vs. Ohio State wouldn't settle anything If Michigan wins and let's say Wisconsin, Boise State, and Florida all win that's 4 teams with one lost and one unbeaten from a lower level conference. Keep in mind if it wasn't for the refs blowing the Oregon game, OU would be in the discussion as well and have a strong case. They need a playoff system. 12 teams. Give the top 4 seeds a bye. Let the other 8 go at it. Single elimination. I'd even take top 8 seeds and they can use the BCS to determine the brackets. It'll still matter and there will still be some talk but we'll always have a worthy Champion. They need to get rid of the Notre Dame rule. Same rules should apply to them as everyone else. Also the only 2 teams allowed from one conference needs to go. The Big Ten and SEC are strong and together would put 5 into a playoff bracket this year and should have 5 in the BCS this year. They can still have the Bowl games. Just use them for the rounds. The Rose Bowl won't be Big Ten vs. Pac -10 but losing the tradition would be worth it for a playoff system.
