Lock him up, I can't say I know a lot about him, like if his jumpshot is decent, but my general perception of him is better than the one I have for Darrell Armstrong

So that's who the Knicks bought out to bring in Jordan...Who's next?
not a bad last choice. He's a solid player when he gets minutes. I wouldn't mind him.

Dickau's defense is iffy.

I cant see him wanting to stay on the East Coast unless there is nothing else. He is from the West. Grew up there, played college there.
He is 29 now and has played in Atlanta, Boston, New Orleans, Portland (twice) and Dallas. The guy has been traded so many times he needs a travel agent more than an agent. His best year he played with Nachbar and Magloire in New Orleans. He averaged 13 and 7 for a terrible team. He also played with Magloire last year.
I think Armstrong to Dallas is close to a done deal.
I also think this limits the Knick's options with Houston. I expected them to buy out Dickau after trying to trade him...to get down to a reasonable roster number. But instead, they have simply "traded" his contract for Jordan's. Now, they still have 17 players. So they have to drop (waive, buy out or trade) three more players to get down to 14.

Weak defender, shooting is his stongpoint, so so passer, ok floor leader, and has been in a constant state of injury for the past 2 and a half seasons. Darrell brings defense, energy, and a guy that can step into a second string role while Marcus is out and be a mentor on the bench when he returns. Guys like Dickau will be available after teams make their camp cuts, vets like Armstrong aren't. We have to make a run at Darrell first because Dickau's not going anywhere.

There have been reports for the past month or so that they wanted him. And I don't think the scenario you outlined is permitted under the CBA.

Actually, some Knick fan saw this coming...
http://sonofdippin.blogspot.com/2007/05/fr...ent-market.html

I know Isaiah has a thing for him but they do have cuts to make, not to mention a decent guard rotation of Collins, Crawford, Marbury and Robinson. I'm not the first to claim to know the CBA by any means but I know teams keep players rights if they don't sign and waive 'em so I was wondering if there was any chance they would let him marinate and bring him in next year or with this trade if they've just paid for a look at him in training camp.
Ya may very well be right about Darrell as well, Dallas is a finals contender and he does have ties to that organization, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try and i'm glad Thorn's reportedly gonna pursue it. Dickau is a big step down from the intangibles Armstrong would bring IMO and would only understand NJ going in that direction after they've exhausted the possibility of Armstrong.

i prefer DA, but ive always like Dan especially the games i saw him with the hornets. he isnt a starting pg, but we are just asking him to play backup for 2 weeks, or possibly a little more, until marcus gets back. he is not a guy who will cause problems once marcus comes back and i rather have him run the point than hite or vince while marcus is out.

Armstrong to be released

After failing to work out a trade with Dallas or Golden State, thePacers are expected to release veteran point guard Darrell Armstrong on Monday, a person with knowledge of the situation said Friday night.
Armstrong is expected to sign with the Mavericks after he's released, the person said.

Armstrong, who has a non-guaranteed contract with Indiana, would have been the odd man out with the Pacers because Travis Diener is penciled in as starter Jamaal Tinsley's backup.
QUOTE (reganomics813)

If all else fails...maybe.

Iannazzone reported in August the Nets had interest in four point guards as the third stringer: Anthony Roberson (in Nuggets camp); Roger Mason (resigned by the Wizards); Darrell Armstrong (likely to be signed by the Mavs tomorrow); and Keith McLeod (still a free agent).
