14-2 last season

    same team

    same players

    healthy

    1-3

so what happens next? Will the Chargers continue with Norv Turner and basically waste away the entire season, or will they push for changes to save the season?

AJ Smith's job should be on the line as well. He keeps taking huge risks with a super bowl contender. At some point you jus thave to let it ride and add pieces rather than shuffle them around each year.

Well this is what happens when your GM has a sudden argument with the Head Coach and decides to hire Norver on a whim.

The Chargers play Denver next week then the Raiders the following week. The Raiders will be coming off a bye and will likely have enough time to figure out how to beat Turner's team. My prediction - the Raiders whoop that as$ and urinate on the Chargers playoff hopes. Prove me wrong!

Huevon, it wasn't a sudden arguement. AJ and Marty had many problems, I believe they didn't talk to each other one on one throughout last season, I believe they had assistants do their talking for them. This is going to be a one and done year for Norv and hopefull AJ's last year.

This was the first time in 22 games that Tomlinson rushed for over 100 yards and the team lost. Phillip Rivers just looks god fucking aweful out there this year. His passes are low, his accuracy is piss poor and his arm strength is absent. I hate the kid with a passion this year, I can't stand him. Add that all to the fact that he is a fucking baby and cries about every play, he's horrible.

Norv Turner..what the hell? In the first quarter, Tomlinson had 10 rushes. Midway through the 3rd quarter, Tomlinson only had 6 rushes since the first quarter. If something is fuckin working for you, you don't turn away from it. It's very hypocritical of Norv to state in the offseason that LT will touch the ball 8-10 more times a game, yet you go away from him. What a terrible coach.

The defense looks like shit this year...correction...the secondary looks like shit this year. How do you steal all of KC's momentum with a monster sack by Merriman and force a 3rd and 19, and on the very next play have Jammer give up a 51 yard touchdown to a rookie? Jammer looks god aweful this year. Ted Cottrell needs to be fired, as well.

I still expect to win the AFC West, I don't think it's time to panic yet. Like I've stated before, I don't fully expect this team to have a grasp of Norv's offense until about week 5 or 6.

Two brutal mistakes by the Chargers front office are just wasting a talented football team right now:

    1) Firing Marty and not retaining either of the coordinators.

    2) Choosing Phillip Rivers over Drew Brees.

Choosing Rivers over Brees wasn't a bad decision IMO. Brees has looked like horse shit this year and his years in San Diego, outside of a few, weren't that good. I would've made the same decision, honestly. Rivers, as much as I hate him right now, needs a receiver he can throw to. Vincent Jackson dropped a TD pass that would've brought the Chargers within 7...clearly dropped it. He was WIDE OPEN.

Smith should've been fired immediately following that decision, you cant have some one like that running a team, its a joke. I guess the good thing to come from all of this is that its blown up in Smith's face.

Forget what Brees does this season, if they had him last year they get by the Patriots and probably to the Superbowl. What a moron AJ Smith is.

The ownership should have recognised that AJ is undermining their team with his ego. The guy needs to go.

I find it hilarious that a Raider fan thinks they have weight to throw their team around in here. When was the last time the Raiders were respectable? They've got a bright future, but c'mon...you are already shit talking?

Yeah, by week 6. I don't know how the hell you expect the Chargers with a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator, and a new defensive coordinator to come in an be an impact team right away. Everybody was riding the hype of last season's team...this isn't last season's team. 3 new coaches is something that you can't just adapt to right away, it takes time.

We are in the Chargers forum, so I will keep the conversation all about the Chargers. No, it doesn't take 6 regular seaon games for a successful team (14-2) to figure out how to work with each other. It's shameful.

It may have been somewhat justified at the time, but I guarantee they'd re-do it now if they had the chance to. You have a championship-calibre team waiting for a young QB to develop. Rivers may end up being better than Brees in the long run, but how long will that take him?
