He looks and sounds different. Maybe I'm just noticing it because I don't listen to him too much (even though I do like him).

Wow I love it! I like the 'dark' simplistic beat, and the song has a great message. Anyone know if this is off his new album?

he looks real different without glasses.
This is tight, i like it. Another good song from Lupe, no surprise.

QUOTE (ATLien)

Lupe is boring.

YEP!

Based on what?! His amazing debut album? If you havent listened to Food & Liquor and are a hip-hop fan then I definitley recommend you pick this cd up...His best tracks from his cd are The Cool, American Terrorist, He Say She Say, The Instrumental and Kick Push. I cant wait till his sophmore album drops and hopefully it doesnt fall into 08 as I have heard various rumours here and there about possible delays but nothing comfirmed yet. I would have loved for him to make Superstar his first single but oh well, Dumb it Down is amazing anyways.

QUOTE (ATLien)

I actually purchased (*GASP!*) Food & Liquor, but I was duped. He's not really that good.

Really??! Did you honestly not like it? Was it the production, lyrics or his flow that turned you off of Food and Liquor, because I thought it was one of the top 10 hip-hop/rap cds of 2006.
On a side note I thought the video was pretty good, he doesnt need the cars, jewelry and $1 million budget to sell his product just his music.

For someone with ties to The Neptunes and Kanye West, two of the greatest hip-hop producers of this decade, the production was very average run of the mill sounding. And for me, it had no replay value. Whenever I go back to listen to it again, it's just "eh".

Well he has ties with them, he had a beat from both of em. OD'n just makes it look like your trying to sell the CD because you got Pharell and Ye'...the production is straight with me...
and this video is tight...superstar is the first single though...this video is just a video he constructed for the net.

Figured he's from Atlanta, maybe he favors Atlanta-based rappers.

I could understand someone saying they don't like Lupe's style or music...but I can't and won't understand people who say he isn't a good lyricist...
and I always wonder if people have checked his mixtapes? I wouldn't think so highly of him if I had only heard F&L, and not the Fahrenheit mixtape series.

QUOTE (peg182)

I'm just curious, what kind of rap are you into?
Southern rap? Atlanta dudes?

Different stuff. I like CunninLynguists, The Roots, Atmosphere, Mos Def, Outkast & etc. as well as more known artists like T.I., Kanye West, Lil' Wayne, Killer Mike, Young Dro & Jeezy. So yeah I do listen to a lot of Atlanta dudes as you condescendingly put it, but also listen to the acts you probably enjoy listening to as well.

I won't rule out the possibility that I'm forgetting an artist or two, but I honestly feel that rap from Atlanta is whats killing hip hop now a days. The mecca of southern hip hop is in North Carolina.

I actually like this song/video I like the beats there pretty good even though I don't listen to Lupe that much but this song is pretty good.
