Paul Hornung's season scoring record of 176 points set in 1960 with Green Bay will be broken by Ladanian Tomlinson next week. Even the great L.T. couldn't do it in the 12 games as the Packer great was able to do! Funny the broadcasters never seem to mention this record when showing the all-time TD comparisons. One more will put L.T. at 30 tds or 180 points. If a player in today?s game were to surpass that point-per-game average, he would have to score more than 236 points in a season!
Paul Hornung was also our kicker though so in reality what L.T. has done might be more impressive. In Fact I would say it is.
I seem to recall them mentioning LT broke the record in 13 games when the greats had a 14 game season. Lets give LT21 his props. They are well deserved.

Don't get me wrong, I love L.T. the player and it's my understanding he's even a better person. That says a lot in todays NFL. My point is breaking a T.D. record less than one year old is nice, but breaking the scoring record that has stood for 47 years is awesome. None of the "greats" have done this. My hat is off to Ladanian Tomlinson. If he can last ten years he will be the greatest RB ever.
I never even thought of that. LT's breaking it is impressive, but the amazing thing about Hornung was he was able to sleep with a women for each point he scored. Let's see LT do that.

Too bad they were underage

This record is way more impressive then the single season touchdown one, considering how this has stood for over 40 years and the single season touchdown record was only set last year....And breaking it in a nationally telivised home game against a divisonal rival, just adds icing to the cake
