If I were GM, Here is what I'd do. I would not resign Andruw. Braves won't be able to afford and has been overpaid for years. He's getting older and his D is good but will eventually fade. AJ is nowhere near clutch at the plate.

I read they might move Francouer to CF. Keep JF in RF IMO. Move Kelly Johnson back to the OF... CF to be precise. Move Escobar to 2B until Renteria is ready to move on. I'd continue to platoon Diaz & Harris in LF.

Further, Escobar s/b the leadoff man next year.

Bring up Devine as the closer or do it by committee w/ Gonzalez & Soriano. Hope Hampton is 100% healthyand that Hudson & Smoltz can repeat this years production.

Sounds like a good idea...i hope they don't re-sign Andruw for big money.

I think Willie was doing a fine job as leadoff hitter in the 2nd half. had a few 4 hit games, IIRC.

I hope Devine's good for us. and Hampton's healthy. I have a feeling we'll need Hampton, I was pissed when I saw he wouldn't play another season.

Sucks for Jones. I remember this current deal he signed, he didn't take the advice of Boras... went to management and gave them a break. Look at the deals that were signed around when he signed his (Manny, Jeter, ARod).

It's going to suck not seeing a hall of famer patrolling the center of the outfield any longer.

I know he has a lot of critics, but I am going to miss him.

He did pick a bad year to tank it. He's still okay for the time being defensively.

he definitely was teh great. He was my 2nd favorite on the team, next to my all-time favorite, Chipper. Thank god he's still producing ALOT, and he doesn't suck like Andruw.

Defense is cool, but everything else was poopy. I was rooting for him for almost the whole season, up until the end. poop.

It has come to my attention recently that Renteria is a Free Agent and Prado (2B) is ready for primetime.

I say let Edgar go. Escobar was impressive when ER was out. Move Kelly Johnson to CF as Andruw's replacement and for get going after Cameron and/or Rowand.

The batting order could go; Escobar, Prado, Chipper, Teixeira, McCann, Francouer, Johnson, Diaz, Pitcher

completely disagree with you there. I felt Edgar was clutch last season, 2nd only to Chipper, and he brought us alot of wins when he came back.

IMO Escobar was inconsistent, and not as good a fielder as Edgar last season. I don't trust Esco all that much.

From what I understand Renteria isn't a free agent this season. I think he has 1 more year on his deal and his productivity is absolutely huge for the cheap value that we are paying him. I think we are shopping him for a legit #2 or #3 pitcher. I wouldn't be opposed to trading Renteria assuming we upgrade our pitching staff.

Another name to throw out there is Aaron Rowand. If he doesn't demand too much money, we should certainly go after him to fill in in center. I don't really like the idea of Kelly Johnson or Matt Diaz out in center, so I would prefer to call up the next Jones to play CF or move Willie to center if we don't sign someone else.

I would not mind keeping Edgar if the price is right. Though, I would not mind seeing a good young core up the middle (McCann, Prado (2B), Escobar, & Johnson in CF until the other Jones is ready. I can't see Harris or Diaz in CF... Kelly has better wheels.

As for pitching, the bullpen ought to be solid w/ Dotel, Soriano, Gonzalez, & Devine if he can step up. If Hampton can stay healthythey may not need to upgrade pitching. If Glavine wants to repent & notdemand a crazy amount then he could be the 3rd or 4th starter.

Smart move not signing Andruw. As for pitching, we could add a couple of new faces but the real key is consistantcy and staying healthy.

Agreed w/ Andruw. Not really sure why you're saying "until the other Jones is ready"....from the reports I've read, we're done with Andruw. Sad, but true. I'll miss him.

And you're missing Franceour in your young core

oh and not sure why you're saying
QUOTE

I would not mind keeping Edgar if the price is right.

....he's still on contract on the team. Are you talking about next postseason?
