Wow the tiebreaker game between the Rockies and the Padres just finished and Colorado just capped off the rally with a victory in the bottom of the 13th inning as Holliday gets called safe at home plate after a sacrafice fly to win the game. However if you watch the replay he never touched home plate and the correct call should of been an out....Anyways this was a crazy game to watch. Anyone have any feedback on this game?

He didn't touch the bag, but the catcher never had possession of the ball either when he tagged him and lost it.

The umpire should have let the play go on and see if Halliday could touch the plate before the catcher could get the ball and tag him out, instead of calling it prematurely safe.

However, the ump thought he touched the plate, and called it early, but it shouldn't overshadow the miraclous comeback by this Rockies team. They certainly deserve to be in the playoffs.

Watch the clip, the catcher blocks the plate with his foot so Holliday cant touch home plate and then drops the ball but picks it up and tags Holliday when hes down so he should be out, regardless the rally was fun to watch and it was an exciting play at the end to win the game and the crowd went nuts so in a way it was worth it to see the crowd's reaction.

I can't watch the replay again because the coverage ended.

But it looked to me that he never had possession of the ball, and by the time he picked it up and tagged him the umpire had called him safe. Whcih means ballgame.

Regardless, I don't buy the story that the Padres got screwed by this. They certainly were screwed. They were screwed by blowing their lead on the final weekend, and they were screwed by not closing out the Rockies when they had a chance. In other words, they screwed themselved.

Wow that was an amazing game. Best game I saw all season. Sucks it kinda gets ruined with controversy.

But I'm glad to see the Rockies get in as well. 14 out of their 15 games won, and SD had a chance if they had won, one of their last 2 games against Brewers. They didn't.

Ahh I see what you mean, and yeah the Padres blew their lead so its their fault, regardless of the ending it was a great game.

Now imagine the same scenario but between the Yankees and Red Sox!!ahahaha that would be priceless to watch.

That doesn't make the call any less wrong.

If the ump got the call right, there would have been a man on second and two out.

It was a horrible call. Nobody's season should end on an umpire's mistake.

If you watch the replay close enough, you'll see that Barrett's foot slides across the plate when Holliday hit it with his hand. You can't really see contact between Holliday's hand and the plate because of the lack of a good camera angle and the dirt in the air, but obviously Barrett's foot sliding was because of Holliday's hand pushing it out of the way. I actually think he made contact.
