And he only counts 700,000 towards the lux tax as a vet minimum deal.

That is only true on 1 year vet min deals. Because he had a multi-year contract, the Nets won't get anything from the league.

However, I've got to say that I really hope that this team does not become a refuge for veterans playing out the end of their careers (see: Miami). Players like Armstrong and Houston may be able to contribute this year, but they are fool's gold in the sense that they don't have a long-term future, and making room for them on the roster prevents the team from developing players that could have more of a long-term impact.

including hite, allen, jones, houston and armstrong the nets' average age is 25. i think that's pretty good.

4 players over 30 - armstrong, houston, kidd, vc

    6players 26-29 - twin, mags, allen, jones, rj, b-rob

8 players 25 below - boki, krstic, ilic, wright, hite, boone, sean, marcus

i think that's a pretty good and balanced mix of youngsters with potential, players in their prime and vets' stabilizing presence...

Yea, we have a good balance of players, a lot of times the average age will fool you, what 4 guys over 35 and 10 under 24. The thing is looking at the under 25, they are guys that will have an impact for years.......Krstic, Marcus to start, hopefully Sean and Boone will also, still hoping on Wright. Thinking Boki is gone, but he's another guy who will be around for a few more years.

    That group is the problem.

Krstic is a free agent after the season, and he is likely to be both risky and expensive.

Other than him, the rest of the group is underwhelming at best.

I still wouldn't trade Marcus in a trade for JO. He's the future at PG, while Armstrong's got around a year left
