Since the draft is coming up soon, I wanna start getting to know these names so I don't have to see mock drafts with someones name that I haven't heard of and run around to find out who they are or what they do or whatever. So far a couple of friends of mines says that they think that IF Jamal Lewis is to be cut, the Ravens might wanna replace him with someone in the draft. The names I've heard were Kenny Irons and Marshawn Lynch. But Irons is more suitable to the run up the middle bruiser type back the Ravens like in their offense. All I know about this kid is that his college is Auburn and is a senior (I think...) Does anyone know anything else about this guy? I'm too busy doing my homework right now but I'll try to get more information later today. But I'd rather get some of the college fans their input.
The big issue that the Ravens might have with getting a back in the 1st round would be that all the 1st round quality backs might be taken by the time they pick...Marshawn Lynch will be for sure if he comes out. Irons might be, but his stock is falling a bit. Michael Bush could be another option if he decides to come out and forego his injury redshirt offer. I like Kenny Irons a lot. I probably rate him higher than most people do right now. A lot of fans are just looking at Kenny's stats, but the stats don't say enough about him this season. He's had a solid year with no passing game to help him out. He's a downhill runner and he seemingly absorbs hits. He's got good vision between the tackles and is deceptively quick. He could use some extra bulk to his frame and he's not a great pass catcher. He might be the best pass protection RB in the draft though.
I thought he was overrated in the beginning of the season (people were talking top 10 for him at one point) and now I think he's rated just right. I like him as the 4th RB in this Draft and a mid to late 1st round pick. I agree that he blocks very well and that he is a great down hill runner. He'll get the tough yards. I think the main concern with him is he might not be a game changing type of back. Michael Bush (when healthy) AP and Marshawn Lynch are game changers IMO. Irons is just the back that does the dirty work so to speak which is still nice but some teams like that back that can take a game over.
Where do you think Adrian Peterson is going to end up going? He is a tremendous talent, better overall back than reggie bush was, but has lots of injury problems.

Willis McGahee is a good example. His injury at the end of his junior year should have been a devastating one. But his dedication to rehab was phenomenal and that was one of the main reasons he snuck back into the 1st round of that draft. Same with Peterson, he wasn't supposed to be able to play for several more months. Instead, he's going to be playing in the Fiesta Bowl against Boise St. Brian Brohm is another player who came back strong from injuries this season. If Peterson, has a knock out game in the Fiesta Bowl, which I expect him to do, then he'll be a lock as a top 5 pick. He's already a lock as a top 10 pick in my opinion. I don't see him getting by the Texans or the Browns where ever those two teams might pick. To me there are 4 players in this draft that are of the elite status....Brady Quinn, Calvin Johnson, Joe Thomas, and Adrian Peterson. Gaines Adams is on the cusp of that status as well. Also with the comparisons to Reggie Bush stuff, it should be stopped. Bush is not your prototypical RB. He's a lot more than that. He's a different sort of player altogether. Laurence Maroney is a better overall RB than Bush, but he's not as big of a threat as Bush is in other facets of the game. I understand Mauroney is a great kickoff returner, but Bush is a more dangerous receiver and punt returner. He's the better big play threat. That's what Bush commands and it's finally starting to show in games. Peterson is a completely different type of back.
Kenny Irons is a good back but if MarshawnLynch,Adrian Pterson,Michael Bush,Steve Slatton are on the board when the Ravens pick they will likely take one of them...I'll tlel you whoever gets Lynch is going to be mighty happy...He is a great talent..
