Good pickup, but things aren't looking good for #0. Who knows, maybe he'll impress someone in camp. Nothing is decided, yet.

Why would Hite get signed if we have Armstrong and BRob? I'd say he has the lesser chance of making the roster than Benson does. Sure he's at a huge disadvantage because Malik is in camp, but at least Malik doesn't have a guaranteed deal (I don't think?). Cha-ching.

no clue, but he would be a fun add.

I'm mostly pulling for Jumaine Jones, I believe he could bring the most to the team out of the rest of the non-guaranteed training camp invitees (including Houston)

I think an Armstrong signing alone gives every other non guaranteed player something to think about because financially the Nets are pretty much set. I think if Houston does come to camp for us then we can bascially call it a day, as they'll find some excuse to keep him on the team even if he isn't a shade of his former self. As it stands now, with Armstrong and Wright seeing the most backcourt time in the wake of Marcus' injury it's pretty anemic scoring wise so hopefully Hite gets a nice fair look as we could use another athletic shooter to pair up with VC or Armstrong in the backcourt while Kidd gets a breater. At this point I find myself hoping that Houston goes back to the Knicks to give Jones and Hite a better chance but in the end I think we're coming out of the offseason with Da, Allen, and Houston which all in all isn't too shabby.

Armstrong wasa thrill to watcheven with the Penny-led Magic. Despite being benched most of the time, he was a fan favorite because ofhis energy. Irecalltelling my brother "I told you so" whenhe hadhis breakout season. The chemistry between KiddandArmstrong should be quite good. I can't remember watching them play against each other though.

It's funny you said this because I woudln't put it past Frank to have hinted to Armstrong it would be his job to lose upon Marcus' return. The 10 or so games Marcus misses will only solidify Frank's love for DA and will only magnify Marcus' flaws. Hoepfully Frank can come up with lineups to capatilize on what both bring to the squad. As much as it pains me to push Marcus to the 2 we may be seeing it alot, I hope this acquistion hasn't put him in a situiation similar to last year where Frank chose the vet over the Williams and it stalls his growth for another season.

I actually think that it is more likely that Marcus becomes the primary backup during december through March, but DA takes over the role in April and the playoffs. And that's the way it should be. Marcus will get a chance to develop, but isn't ready to be trusted in the big game situations. I wouldn't be surprised if Frank told DA that he would get a chance to contribute in the playoffs.

That very well could be the case as well. I mean really the situations between Dallas and NJ were pretty similar in the amount time he'd be getting so I think the mentions from his agent about opportunity to play are in accordance with some kind of deal like the one you or I proposed. I don't necessarily agree with Marcus not being able to be trusted in late game situations as anything he's shown in his rookie year should be taken with a grain of salt as learning our system, let alone leading it is no easy task for any rookie. Hopefully he has a speedy and full recovery so he can work his way into gameshape and the lineup to become an important part of our team and not one that just gets pushed to the bench in the playoffs because of DA's presence. Don't get me wrong I want DA to be exactly the guy we hope he will for us and I fully realise how important he can be come playoffs, I just dont want to see Marcus' ability to contribute be hurt because of it. There's room for both of them IMO and I hope we see that.

True, could rest him a bit, like the Spurs have done with Horry.
