<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>When Uncle Jerry speaks, Darius Rice listens.
Jerry Rice, a future Hall of Fame wide receiver, called his nephew Wednesday, offering encouragement.
The 6-foot-10, 215-pound forward is trying to earn a spot on the Cavaliers' roster.
"I talked to him yesterday," Darius said. "He plays a lot of golf. He was in New York. He said, 'Keep working hard, and good things will happen.' I've been through so much with injuries, the D-League and overseas. He said something good is bound to happen. He keeps me motivated."
He's very close with his uncle and followed his star-studded career.
"I went to three Super Bowls," Darius said. "I went to a lot of Saints games, which is close to where I'm from."
Darius admits it's a bit stressful being a relative of a Hall of Fame player.
"It's pressure because everyone wants you to be him," Darius said. "But I'm in a whole different sport. It's great to have someone in your family who's considered one of the best all-time."</div></p>

I had no idea they were related. If Pavlovic is re-signed, those small forward minutes are up for grabs and Rice has the shooting stroke to make this team. He can snap the twine like no other when he has his rhythm going.</p>
