Sabathia's gutty performance.</p> Instead, fans jammed sports talk radio lines and Internet message boards, crying foul over their frustration with the NBA superstar's traitorous appearance in the stands wearing a Yankees cap.</p> "The guy is the face of Cleveland sports and he's not even rooting for a team that's 100 feet from the building he plays in," said Adam Burke, who was waiting outside the left-field gate for Game 2 on Friday.</p> James' office, Quicken Loans Arena, sits just across a plaza from Jacobs Field. The Eastern Conference champions are displaying a large banner on the building wishing the Indians good luck in the postseason.</p> </p> But their All-Star forward, who grew up in nearby Akron, isn't backing one of his hometown clubs. The 22-year-old, who also roots for the Dallas Cowboys, has worn his Yankees cap around town for years, and last week while in New York rehearsing for "Saturday Night Live" predicted the Yankees would beat the Indians.</p> Fans have mostly tolerated James' decision to back the hated Yankees, who have been the Indians' foil since the 1950s.</p> But last night's appearance behind home plate wearing the dreaded interlocking "NY" insignia, may have been too much to bear. James not only wore the cap, but he flaunted it, at one point holding it high over his head.</p> Later, though, as the Indians began to pull away, he put it on backward and left the ballpark holding it in his hands. One fan even offered his Indians cap to James, who slapped hands with others as he exited.</p> Around town, James' actions caused an uproar.</p> "LeBron James. King of Nothing. Fan of Yankees. That was pretty cold.</p> He grew up in Ohio and plays for the Cavs, yet he wears a Yankees hat at a playoff game, IN CLEVELAND.</p> I don't understand why he's a Yankees fan, though. The Indians were a playoff team for like 5 straight years during his childhood, so he has no excuse.</p>
I hate the Yankees, but I love that LeBron has chosen (at least in this case) to be a real person and not some corporate automaton like Tiger Woods.</p> Maybe he won't make a billion dollars, but he might also turn out to have a personality and some characteristics of a guy living in the same world as the rest of us.</p> </p>
What could be more corporate than being a Yankees fan when you're not from New York? Just another guy who finds rooting for historical dominance more exciting than supporting your home colors. He's also a Dallas Cowboys fan. He's a fraud.</p>

I put that in quotes because 9/10 people you see wearing a Yankees hat isn't even a real fan, nor do they even know what they are talking about when it comes to the sport. If LeBron watches more than 10 games of baseball per year, I'd be surprised. He's just going for a historic team and wearing the hat because he likes the logo... like everybody else.</p>

It's disgraceful to see "Yankee fans" who had no idea who Joba Chamberlain before he got called up, or still have no idea who Tabata is. Or they think Myers was a good reliever because his ERA was low.</p>
True. Here in Mass. for example you see a lot of people wearing Yankee hats, and I'm sure most of them are not yankee fans.</p>
