QUOTE

Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis was immobilized and carted off the court after he was injured in a collision during training-camp practice Friday night. The 21-year-old Ellis was trying to split a double team on a pick-and-roll when he went down. Ellis lay face down, prone for more than 25 minutes. He has been taken to Castle Medical Center in Kailua, which is about 40 minutes from the BYU-Hawaii campus where the Warriors are holding camp. The team's trainer was able to speak to Ellis, so it appears he is conscious, but there were no noticeable responses to tests for motion, particularly from the shoulders down.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/trainingcamp...tory?id=3051363

This report says he had slight movement in his legs, but who knows how accurate it is.

QUOTE

From Janny Hu in Hawaii.
(Just saw this happen in practice. Ellis appeared to lose his footing driving between Marco Belinelli and Austin Croshere, and knocked his head on Wright's hip as he fell to the floor.
Ellis remained face down for more than 20 minutes, only slightly moving his legs, while being tended to by Warriors athletic trainer Tommy Abdenour. damn. this sucks. So is this just a head injury, so that Monta will end up being okay and good to go for the season?
I'm so sick of injuries.

Damn... this really sucks... I hope Monta is okay.
BTW, these reports are shotty at best. I betcha given most media hype and people panicking these days, he's probably just suffered a stinger and a bad concussion. He'll be okay, I think. They are taking precautious just in case there is a spine/neck injury. I mean if one of your guys was worth multi million dollars you do that sort of thing if he's your investment. But regardless of all that b.s., I hope he's going to be like normal for him and his family's sake.

See, I knew it. He will be fine, but this means he has to stay out of practice for a while and keep monitoring the injury. These spine/neck injuries are the worst because they can be aggravated later if not cared for.

That's probably as big as a scare can get. I'm sure every Warriors fan is breathing a sigh of relief that their young scorer is fine.

Glad it didn't turn out to be a freak accident and serious injury to Monta. I'm surprised those type of injuries don't occur more in basketball. Good thing he didn't have a concussion either. Monta is a tough kid, he should rebound from this physically and mentally.
