I'd even settle for Jim Fassel. Bottom line; an offensive mind is needed @ HC. It makes me wonder... What is left for cripplepepper? I actually do believe that Miami and Buffalo will fight for third in the AFC East next year.
This may surprise some folks since I root for the Cardinals and they just won the Orange Bowl, but I'm not sure that I want Petrino in Miami. Since he has been at U of L, he has been in talks with Auburn and, ironically enough, LSU and I think once was within a week of signing a contract extention. He took a lot of heat in Louisville for that. That makes me leery of Petrino. I'm not sure Petrino would leave U of L right now. If Brohm and Bush come back next year, the Cardinals might have a shot at the National Championship. That would be quite an achievement for the old resume. It would be nice to see Brian Brohm in aqua and orange. What impresses me most about Brohm is his poise.
Let me throw another name in the hat; Jim Caldwell of the Colts. I believe he is the QB coach in Indy.

I hoped & thought Nick would stay. Its not that he left (not alot anyway). Its how. When hired, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I guess a leopard can't change its spots. Zack; I appreciate your honesty. Though, how does our alleged deification of Nick any different of your alleged man crush on Kitna and what an outstanding and exemplary citizen he is differ? I got over my irritation at Nick moments after making that post. I just wish I understood his motivation... maybe someday I will
"In Saban We Trust" And what do you make of the owner pleading to the public for advice on how to run his franchise? :surrender:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bakes781)</div><div class='quotemain'>And what do you make of the owner pleading to the public for advice on how to run his franchise?</div> I like it. Its customer oriented. Decent customer service, it seems, has gone the way of the dodo. Other than mine, there may be a brilliant idea or two out there on what the Dolphins need to do. I just wish the league office was as humble when I sent in my idea for realignment a few years ago. Power to the people.... well the Dwo anyway.

The Terms of Service and Vikingfan's wishes keep me from saying what I would really like to about that crappy little comment, but let me say this. I always shoot straight. I haven't had any problem with Saban until now. I don't blame him for picking Culpepper over Brees. Both QBs were injured and there is not ONE SINGLE PERSON who could say for sure which QB, if either one, could or would bounce back. Anyone can sit here in January and blame Saban, but we all know that hindsight is 20/20. Saban was told that Culpepper was closer to being healthy than Brees which was wrong, but that's what he was told by sources outside of the Dolphins own medical staff. Second, I feel that Brees was playing the Dolphins against the Saints and the only reason that the Saints signed Brees so easily was because the Dolphins went ahead and signed Culpepper which destroyed Brees leverage with the Saints, so he wasn't able to pump more money out of them. I never wrote in the forum that the Dolphins should let Saban go until it became apparent that Saban didn't want to be here. I don't appreciate his lying and I'm irritated that he's left us in a bind, but I haven't had a problem with him until now which is why I haven't been on his case. Zach, I haven't heard you knocking Detroit's coach. Are you worshipping him? Still, I would rather be DWO and looking to see what direction the Dolphins are going than being a Pussy Cats fan and suffering another season under Matt Millen. Say what you will, but the Dolphins still have a better record than the Pussy Cats (though that's really nothing to be proud of) and the Dolphins kicked that sucky teams butts on Thanksgiving Day so we'll get through this. You go ahead and puke, but I think that my be more of a reflection of the fact that you root for the worst football organization in the history of the NFL with no hope for the future than it is because I'm upset of Saban's lying.

No quarterback and Saban passed on Drew Brees , he likely should run as fast as he can! </div> Oh yes, you absolutely knew exactly what he would do. Thank goodness for hindsight, otherwise you would be blind. Nick Saban repeatedly lied to everyone except his wife. It certainly wasn't about the money, as the Dolphins were offering a competitive wage to what he ultimately got from Alabama. After reading several news sources today, the only unique explanation for him wanting to leave was to get out of the Big City of Miami. They apparently prefer smaller, more humble accomodations, with the same salary of course. Miami got screwed. I hope that Wayne picks his sack up and realizes that before facing the media as if he is a deer in headlights. Oops, too late. As for passing on Brees, PLEASE! Oh wait! You're using your superpower of hindsight once again, know ing that Brees would have a career season and putting up ~1000 more passing yards than at any previous season. Wayne should have consulted you first for sure.
In the end, the guy wanted to coach in college....it wasnt about money, because he took less....it was about lifestyle....a pro coach works 16 hours a day 51 weeks a year, while a college coach works 8 hours a day 30 weeks a year....thats a huge difference....I think he missed having a life outside of football and I think he missed his family time....and I think his wife hated the pro commitment....Im not mad at the guy....I did trust him, and maybe he let me down, but you have to be loyal to yourself and your family before your loyal to fans of the team you work for....its so hard to win in the NFL, and if you're coach isnt 100% committed, you have no chance....id rather he leave and be happy, than give 90%....
He could have simply said those 2 magic words "no comment" If he had success in Miami he wouldn't have left for Alabama. That place shows even less loyalty than he does.

But it definitely is a less strenuous job. It's the impact upon the lives of players that he is missing more than anything. He mentioned that in his press conference to and I definitely see that as a reason to coach college over the pros. I graduate in December and will begin my coaching career. I personally can't see myself coaching above a college level because a big part of coaching to me is mentoring the kids on your team. I see that in Saban. It's a similar quality you see in several college coaches no matter what the sport. I was lucky enough to be at the Texas Tech basketball game on Monday when Bobby Knight broke Dean Smith's all time coaching victories record. Say what you want about Bob Knight, but his players graduate and are better men after they leave his program. I see that same personality in Saban although I do wish he had more loyalty to the programs where he is coaching. Hopefully he'll fix that flaw in his coaching character at Alabama and stick with the team as long as he is successful there.
