According to several reports, Armstrong didn't pick up a basketball until training camp. He's one of those players (with Steve Nash, and John Stockton included) that spends the Summer doing anything but basketball.</p> Meet the Freak - Dave D.</p> Also, turns out Darrell ended up choosing the Nets....in the shower. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>And lastly, he took a seriously long shower Wednesday night (more information than I needed, too). He went in thinking Dallas and came out thinking Nets.</div></p> In the 'Zzone - Al Iannazzone</p> And probably the biggest thing I got from these articles was that Darrell was promised nothing by Frank...not a guaranteed backup position, not playing time, not even making the team. From the Dave D. article: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Not a spot in the rotation, not even a spot on the roster. Nothing.</p> That was fine with Armstrong.</p> "He told me no matter if it's (Eddie) Gill, (Mateen) Cleaves, Marcus (Williams), whoever outplays who is gonna play," he said. "And that's the way I like a coach. I like a coach who's not only going to reward a guy who works hard in practice but works hard in games. That's the thing I always stood for. That's how I got in this league. If it wasn't for Brian Hill, giving me the opportunity to play, I might not have been in the league. He gave me an opportunity and I took advantage of it."</div></p> Obviously, Darrell's gonna win the spot. I sure as hell would be surprised if he didn't.</p> </p>
He'll be the back-up, no doubt. Marcus can't be too happy. Just shows how important defense is, and hopefully Marcus will work on his D as a result.</p>
