ISTANBUL, Turkey - Al Jefferson had 11 points and 17 rebounds and Ryan Gomes scored 12 points to lead the Timberwolves to an 84-81 victory over Efes Pilsen in Istanbul Abdi Ipekci arena.</p> Gomes had 10 points and nine rebounds in the first half of Minnesota's first game during the NBA Europe tour, and the Timberwolves took a two-point lead on Efes Pilsen. Ricky Davis had 12 points.</p> Drew Nicholas scored 24 points, and Andre Hutson added 15 points and 19 rebounds for the Turkish side.</p> The Timberwolves spent the past week in Istanbul as part of the NBA's "Europe Live" Program helping dedicate a new basketball court and community centre at a local school as well as practising. They also distributed hearing aids to more than 1,000 children.</p> The Timberwolves are without six-foot-11 Kevin Garnett, the NBA's leading rebounder each of the past four seasons, who was traded to the Boston Celtics for five players and two first-round draft picks.</p> Al Jefferson has 11 points</p>
