<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><span class="template"><span class="body"> During Hawks training camp, the AJC will provide insight into the day's happenings.</p> <table width="175" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="0" align="left"> </table> Hawks coach Mike Woodson had more than just basketball on the brain Saturday afternoon.</p> After putting his team through the paces of a public scrimmage at Philips Arena, Woodson hustled them back to the locker room for some chalk talk from former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young.</p> "You're talking about one of the true icons of this city and our nation," Woodson said of Young, the noted civil-rights activist and the United States' first African-American ambassador to the United Nations. "His résumé is unreachable. Most guys wouldn't have experienced half the stuff he has in his lifetime. And for these guys to spend a few minutes listening to him speak about the bigger picture was something we couldn't pass up."</p> Woodson said he first met Young three years ago when he was hired to coach the Hawks. Young offered then to do whatever he could to assist the coach and team, Woodson said, in addition to welcoming him to the city.</p> But it wasn't until Saturday that Woodson was finally able to take Young up on his offer.</div></p> The Atlanta Journal-Constitution</p> </span></span></p>
