QUOTE

Allan Houston's chances of jumping into the mix diminished considerably as soon as the Nets signed Darrell Armstrong to be part of their backcourt rotation, and now there's no way around it: Houston can't fit. The team has informed his agent that it would be prudent for him to take any camp invitations offered by the Knicks or others, according to a Nets official who required anonymity because he doesn't speak for the team....

The Nets can't find a taker for Mile Ilic's $850,000 contract, so they cannot create a roster spot for Houston, and buyout talks with agent Marc Cornstein have stalled because Cornstein can't find a job for Ilic overseas. So the only option for the 7-1 Serb is to spend the year in the D-League. ... Wing Bernard Robinson suffered a torn medial collateral ligament Saturday and will miss the rest of camp, though surgery might not be necessary with such an injury. He'll be re-examined today.

It's his fault. If he hadn't been such a punk and decided with a team earlier on, then there may not have been this big squabble. Now the Knicks will have to cut Nichols who we should pick up.

Mile Ilic and Brob really need to go. Both suck and are taking roster spots for some actual contributors.

no no no no no no no....As a Syracuse Orange fan, I'll tell you that'd probably be a bad idea. Nichols has a history of serious confidence issues (he used to get so nervous in interviews, he studdered. really, just watch a post-game interview with him from SU...) and if Frank being a confidence killer is correct, Nichols would be like a worse Antoine Wright. Scary.

IMO We'd probably be better off getting a veteran, or just sticking with one of the guys we have in camp.

Better off getting a veteran...like Allan Houston? If whats keeping him off the team is a roster spot, then I don't see how anyone else gets on unless we get rid of Illic

He had his chance if he wanted to, but took too long. I'm happier with getting Armstrong then taking a chance on him anyway.

Same thing I'm thinking. So basically, if that was true NO one else in camp would be able to make the team. I think the Nets just got tired of him procrastinating and hearing the rumors of the office job Dolan offered him and let him go. Also they may have decided to help Houston out so fans wouldnt say he was stupid for joining the Knicks because now it appears he has "no other choice" even though his decision was already made.

Houston blew it. Would he have been a nice addition? Sure, there had to be something Frank and company saw in him to offer him a non guaranteed deal, but for all he could show Wright on the bench he's doing him an even bigger favor by playing for NY as Wright will see plenty of time to get comfortable with his role and that will help us more than anything Houston could make on the offensive end. Have fun in New York Allan, you'd be better off staying retired if you're worried about your legacy.
