#1. Find a great personel guy and turn the team over to him. Whether thats Mueller, Scott Pioli, or bringing back Jimmy Johnson, you need a top personel department to succeed in this league.... #2. Only include candidates that WANT to be here....No recruiting trips to talk a guy into the job....that was done with a reluctant Saban and look at the mess that created.... #3. No one that has been fired....No Mooch, No Dennis Greens....if you want a guy that walked away on his own, thats fine(Vermiel for instance), but no Wannstedts....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pack Attack)</div><div class='quotemain'>Mike Sherman?</div> He violates #3....no soup for Sherman
Keep Mueller & Go after Cam Cameron. Why? Ronnie Brown could take the next step in his development. McMike might actually reach his potential. LT has become the premiere back under Cameron I see no reson why Ronnie couldn't . McMike would never be Gates-like but could thrive w/ Cam. Look at what Cam has done in San Diego w/ a offense that runs thru the TB & TE and average WR corps. Further, I don't think a top tier QB is needed. Given enough time & patience Lemon or even Joey would do well.
The Beef trusts the magical question mark! WOO! No one WHO has been fired? As in EVER?! The only coach he wants is a new one / a coaches contract ran out.
I heard you say "No Mooch"....The Dolphins need a good coach and Mariucci is the best available....Look at his work rebuilding the Niner franchise after Young got hurt.....He'd be great for the Dolphins and could finally get them to go ABOVE .500
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (blackadder)</div><div class='quotemain'>I wonder about Pete Carroll. What a perfect way to stick it to the jest & patsies.</div> It'll never happen - I've heard he's very happy in college ball. What about Ferentz (sp?) from Iowa? He's had a good track record. Your best bet is going to be finding a coach who is a rookie HC. I don't think you'll get Washington's OC (his name slips my mind right now), but there are plenty of up and coming coaches who could fit the bill. Just don't take Mike Tomlin.

He is not the best out there. edit - never mind. see post #7. http://www.nfl-forums.com/forums/miami-dol...-bama-6301.html
I'm hearing Jim Bates already. I hope he gets the job. I wanted him to coach Green Bay (though McCarthy has won me over this year) but I still feel Bates deserves a job and Miami would be a logical place for him.
Pete Carroll made a classless "choking" gesture when he was with the Jets during a Shula-Era game with the Dolphins and I've hated his guts ever since. Besides, I agree with Beef that we need a GM first and a coach second. It's time to stop putting the cart in front of the horse.
i think the best bet for the Dolphins would be to get one of the many great coordinators out there, someone like Norm Chow or the Ravens DC or Ron Rivera. maybe they'll take a look at Mike Tice lol like the Jets did last year. When i heard he was a top candidate i was about to kill myself. wouldnt mind him in a dolphins shirt tho. GL with the coach search.
I'll pass on Jim Bates. I like him but its time to move forward. If they even consider Tice then bA will be :reallysick:

Outside of re-hiring the vanilla one, I can think of no better way to drive me out of the Dwo.
Im just going to wait and see....I dont have clear head about the situation, as Im emotionally involved....there are no slam dunk candidates out there, but there a lot of really interesting ones....
They are certainly looking to interview everyone under the sun. No to Denny Green, Martz, Mariucci, & (Bears OC) Ron Turner. My critieria for this seach; 1) No one who will install the Tampa cover 2 and/or the west coast offense. 2) Fresh face needed i.e no one from the Parcells/Belichick coaching tree or the Jimmy Johnson coaching tree either.
