QUOTE (CelticKing)

I'm going to say the Rockets win.
Houston 93 - 81 New Orleans

Sounds good to me!
Last few years, the Rockets have had great preseasons but had shaky starts to the regular season. So, I'm not really concerned about whether we win the game. I'm just excited to see how all the new players fit together.

Yep, its not that important. They'll be an exciting team to watch, all throughout the season. (up until the finals, when they'll lose to cough celtics cough) lol
You guys have a great team and a great coach.

Who'll start at PG this game?
Been a long time coming guys, the Rockets probably won't look to destroy the Hornets, so we might just see Harris, Novak, Reed etc fighting to prove themselves worthy of being on the opening day roster.

Rockets SHOULD take this game....only thing I'm really interested in is the new system and how that works with Yao and everyone else, I want to see how fluid it is with everyone AND I want to see how all the PGs do and who stands out, but I can't watch it from CA xP so let me know how it goes.

YEEEEEEEEEEES....basketball is back.....I wasn't going to watch 2nite, because I had some studying to do, but studying can wait until after a little preseason action....I really want to see Adleman's system and I'm curious to see how Francis, Scola, Bonzi, and Brooks look in particular.

I'm looking forward to Aaron Brooks and Luis Scola tonight for Houston. Hornets are the perfect team to test out the new offense on.

It's been too long since I've seen you in the Rockets forum. I take it you're not a Rowdy this year?

^^^you know it.........yeah I'm back now...I got a little busy with school, but b-ball is back so I'll be posting here like normal.

Rockets lead 26-7 with about 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Complete and utter domination thus far.
EDIT: Rockets lead 30-9 after one quarter of play. Seems like the best of both worlds so far, they continue to play top notch defense and have added some Rick Adelman offense to their resume. If this trend continues the Rockets will win 120-36!

T-Mac lost his touch. He has the worst fat cat contract in the NBA...if only we pushed to trade him Battier, Brooks, and Scola for Kobe...T-Mac has terrible work ethic, I am convinced his back has nothing to do with his stroke. I never thought I'd see myself hating T-Mac this much, but after seeing what he's capable of in the 04-05 season, I can't help but be mad at him.
My early MVP vote goes to Yao Ming.

And this is your reaction after one preseason game?
Settle down. He always starts out slow. He'll be rolling by January/February, as usual.
Rockets looked pretty good in that first quarter. My thoughts:

[*]Our PFs are going to have foul issues this year -- certainly Chuck, and I'm guessing Scola as well. [*]Mike Harris looked like he belonged out there. [*]Snyder got injured with a bruised tailbone. For his sake, I hope can bounce back quickly. His roster spot is in jeopardy. [*]Francis did not look comfortable out there. Hopefully he figures out the offense some time soon. [*]Based on this game, Rafer still looks to be our best option at starting PG. Kind of disappointing. [*]Scola's got some offensive game, and quick hands on defense. Defensive rebounding will be an issue for him. [*]Yao looked great out there. He handled the high post far better than I thought he would. [*]Luther Head will benefit with the new offense, but you still don't want him dribbling the ball [*]Bonzi looked very good for the most part. He'll give us good offensive punch off the bench. I think he can play 3 positions for us (SG-PF)[/list]
Is anyone getting the felling that Novak isn't going to make the squad this year? Also, I am damn impressed with Mike Harris. After strong showing at summer league, practice, and even the preseason opener, everyone still predicts that he will get cut. If there is anyone that deserves to make it to this team, it would be him. It's just a terrible shame that we are so deep this year.

But I think Harris has a real shot to make the team, at least if it was up to Adelman. Contract-wise, he's more expendible than Snyder or Novak. But just based on who'll help the team the most in terms of fit, I like what he brings more. Novak is a zero in every area other than catch-and-shoot. And Snyder, like Francis, did not seem comfortable with the offense.
Still, it's early in the preseason. I don't want to jump to any strong conclusions after one game.

Kind of a late playoffs reaction. I just kept thinking about how we had 8 minutes to go , we were up by 3,plus we were in the penalty, but T-Mac never drove in once, he just bricked his little off-balanced jumpers. 99-05 T-Mac would have made those jumpers and some.

Give him a break, and be positive for the new season. It should be a good one.

I hope you're rigt
Interesting stat you have there. I guess I can give T-Mac till' January before I openly express my hate of his lack of work ethic, and will to be best. I guess when you're 24 and you're the youngest two time scoring champ...gonna stop now. I really hope I'm wrong about T-Mac this season.
Bonzi looked great out there. I missed the second half, did anyone else shine besides Harris, Head, and Scola?

I thought Rafer looked surprisingly good, but that jumper of his comes and goes.
I mentioned above that Scola would struggle on the defensive boards. But I look at the stat sheet and see that he got 6 or 7 of them in only 23 minutes. I guess wasn't watching him carefully enough.
