QUOTE

Oct 9 - After Bernard Robinson was re-examined yesterday, the Nets' initial fears were realized. The guard/forward suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee during Saturday's open practice, according to team president Rod Thorn. He'll miss the rest of training camp, though he might not have to have surgery.

Either way, despite injuries to Robinson and Marcus Williams, Allan Houston appears out of the picture. The Knicks seem to be his only option right now. -- New York Post

Come on Rat, spend the lux tax money. Let Thorn just buyout Bernard for all of his money and then sign Houston to a vet min contract.
Bernard can have all his money and use of the training facilities while he rehabs and the Nets get a player that could actually contribute this season.

If there's a time to suck up spending some money now's the time. Give Houston and every other invite a chance to make the team. Hite, Jones, and probably Houston could all help NJ more than Robinson can, I don't care what positive reviews he was getting before the injury.

What difference does it make if he's taking up some imaginary positional "slot" if he'll never even play?
bernard, on the other hand, does have potential value, if no more than as the defensive stopper off the bench if Antoine gets hurt or sucks.

Robinson isn't nearly as good as you are making him out to be Dumpy. Just like Mile, he has no trade value and essentially no chance to contribute.

For one thing, I've never seen him play, and probably no one else has, either. Regardless, if given a chance, I think he potentially could be a competent replacement/sub--certainly more so than Ilic. He at least had a skill in college that he demonstrated--a solid defensive player--that could translate to the pros.

I've seen Robinson plenty on the 'Cats and Hite, Jones, and a gimpy Houston are all better options.

The Cats were going to cut Brob before they traded him. He sucks. As does Mile, both of whom who will never contribute and are hogging up valuable roster spots. It'll be a shame to let Hite, JJ and Malik go especially how well they've been playing and how bad Brob and Mile are.
