Who will it be? What is available?

Maybe Jeff George? ( LOL )

Seriously though, if they could peel Whisenhut away from Pittsburgh, that would satisfy me. Would Mariuci take the job? I wonder if Shell would veto any west coast offense coaches. He seems pretty determinned to do smash mouth and bombs, even though the results aren't showing it yet.

I believe Wisenhunt could not get out of Oakland fast enough last yr. So, Al rehired Art Shell.

I heard that Art Shell's job is not safe yet. So he could be gone. Regardless of who the Head Coach is I hire someone who runs the same offense as New England. Someone who runs the Weis/Belichick tree (so to speak) and I draft Brady Quinn #1 overall.

I hope they give him at least one more season. I can't stand it when HC's don't get more than one season. It really takes a couple to get a program turned around, unless you inherit a Tony Dungy team.

Packers went 8-8 in 1999 with Ray Rhodes. Rhodes was fired the day after the regular season. Ron Wolf admitted he made a mistake. He hired Mike Sherman and we went 9-7 the next season but showed potential. We then wen 12-4 and Sherman went on to give us some good years until he became GM. So sometimes it's the right move admitting a mistake and getting rid of Shell. It really does look like the game passed him by.

Yep, it took Sherman two years to reach that potential. If Ray Rhodes had been given a second year in GB, then perhaps they would have hit 12-4 or something similar one year earlier than Sherman did. They didn't even give him a chance. If you are happy with getting to 12-4 in 3 years vs. 2 years, then everything is fine. I'm not saying for certain that Rhodes could have or would have put that together, but we will never know.

"I" can say for certain that Ray Rhodes wouldn't have put anything together. He made some HORRIBLE coaching decisions in that 8-8 season that cost the Packers big time. His poor clock management and time out usage cost the Packers at least two games that year (one in week 2 against the Lions).

He also failed to use instant replay in a couple of situations because he was too busy chomping his gum and looking at his clip board to check the replay on the jumbotron. The Packers that year could have easily been 10 - 6 and made the playoffs (9 - 7 would have actually made it that year) but Rhodes couldn't hold it together.

Considering Green Bay got worst as the year went on and Favre had the worst season since 1993 (1st full year as a starter) Rhodes deserved what he got. Ron Wolf also said when he came back from scouting trips the team appeared lost at practice and it was if they weren't getting anything done.

Now I'm not saying Shell has lost his team but they are 2-14.

Not that it matters now but Shell has been fired.
