I heard ESPN previewing a story that Dolphin fans were referring to Nick Saban as "Nick Satan". I missed the story, did anyone catch it?

I couldn't help but chuckle and think of Beef's sig "In God We Trust". [IMG]

It doesn't really get Miami fans too upset, they just replace the name that "In___ we trust" to whoever appears next on Wayne's next paycheck.

Marty has done a great job this year. Cant fault him for losing with millen, cuz no one is winning with millen

Detroit busts, also known as entire roster, probably have a good shot at salvaging careers elsewhere.

This would be cute if it contained a shred of truth. I guess Galvy was sleeping during the "Teflon" Dave Era. That's okay. If the peanut gallery didn't meet it's baseless accusations against the DWO quota every week, it just wouldn't be the NFL-Forums anymore.

Here is the "shred" of truth that I am clutching: It's been true since at least Saban, unless Beef changed his sig again.

I slept well during the Teflon era of Miami football, especially the night following the Raider's shutout victory over them in the divisional playoffs.

The Peanut Gallery fired me a long time ago.

Here's to hoping that the Raiders land a better coach than the Dolphins next season.

    Cheers.

It's been true ever since Saban? Wow, that's one in a row! That might qualify as a trend in New England.

I had forgotten about the Raiders shutout victory over the Dolphins. I guess it got lost in the shuffle of the last 10 Dolphin-Raider games. (It looks like Wanny went 2-1 against the Raiders during his tenure.)

(I'm glad your back, ROTR. The board isn't the same without a Raiders fan to mess with every now and then. Just don't tell anyone. That's why I'm putting this in parenthesis.)

Well, lets not get too carried away, you did frame the conversation with "Teflon" Dave Era. I am aware of the non-playoff loses to Wanny's phins during that time, including one during the season of the Raider's Superbowl run. Jason Taylor played a monster game that day.

I'm no Dolphins fan, but the DWO is always fun to talk to.

I seem to recall the last game between them was won on last second run by Jay 'noodle arm' Feidler

I believe the two will play in '07 so I look forward to laying down the smack in a few months.

    Keep hope alive.

Raiders interviewed Trojans QB coach & former BYU QB Steve Sarkisian. That is almost complete desperation to get someone with little coaching experience. SS would not be were he is coaching-wise if not for being riding the coattails of Norm Chow.

Looking at Dale's post above, it wasn't the last game. I am doing really well though at purging the vanilla reign from my memory.

There are coaches in the NFL today who would have never gotten a shot if not for working under a known-good quantity, and later getting the recommendation from their predecessor. Saying that "This guy wouldn't be where he is today if not have been working under so and so" is kind of redundant, don't you think?

Anyway, as far as I have read, no one has been hired yet. Having waited an entire month to decide on former head coaches, I'd say its still early in the game. The Raiders are talking to Marc Trestman for a possible second stint at OC.

I agree that what I said above appears to redundant even superfluous. I could not come up w/ a nice way to say it. So, I'll just spit it out. Sarkisian was a no talent hack as a college QB IMO and is riding the gravy train.

I don't recall his eveng etting an invite to the pros which is rare for BYU QB.

While I can't shake your opinion of his talent, I think that your criteria is flawed and/or doesn't exist.

Remember, Jon Gruden got his first interview with Al Davis at age 33. Al Davis, himself, got his first head coaching job AND General manager position also at the tender age of 33. Al Davis had a winning record 23-16-3 over 3 years before becoming COMMISSIONER of the AFL.

"spitting out" what you really think about Sarkisian is just solely for my entertainment. I was just hoping that you would come up with something a bit more clever, and thoughtful. I was already confident that Al has a better grasp of what's out there than anyone on this message board. I just want to hear the other opinions. Sadly, half the posts from this entire message board are only being generated by a couple of its members.

Bill Parcells played for the Wichita State University before coaching in the college ranks. The school s-canned its whole football program years ago, if that's any indication as to how prestigious that school was. He didn't *play* pro ball either. Coaching-wise, the guy has had a pretty darn good career.

I should hope Al Davis has a better grasp of what's out there than anyone on this message board, considering that he's an owner of a football team and we're just fans giving our opinions on the sport we love in our spare time. I'm not sure that Davis' head coach hirings, since Gruden left, have reflected that though.

If you are directing that at me, then you are wrong. I am not angry with you. I suppose you might have construed my responses as "anger". Emotions, whether present or not, are often mistaken in the written word. Like when I mentioned in the previous post about your decision to "spit out" what you really thought about that guy, I was not going to take it in any other way than entertainment, not anger!

Go reread what I wrote, and read it to yourself slowly, calmly, and without emotion. That's how I intended it.

It's not like he hasn't tried to land the better candidates, because he has. They have to say "Yes" first. Al does acknowledge mistakes that he makes. Going through 7 coaches in 12 years certainly suggests that he made mistakes and tried to start from scratch each time. He fired those guys because they really stunk it up during their short coaching tenures. Also, for every mistake he has made, I can think of 5 other things that he did absolutely right. I really wasn't crazy on the Norvell Eugene Turner hire as a HC. I kind of thought that the guy is just too sedated to get a team fired up for a game/season.

Believe me, my loyalty has been tested this season much more than it ever has been since I started wearing silver and black jerseys. It's not just me, its everyone I talk to. I know season ticket holders who are not going to renew. I also know people who had blind faith in Norv Turner. It varies depending on who you talk to. It sickens me to watch the Chargers, Chiefs, and Broncos roll us for two straight seasons. I get to watch them walk out of my stadium laughing their ass off. I thought Art Shell might be just the shot in the arm this team needed last year. It turned out to be a self-inflicted gunshot would to the head.
