He's doing a better job of taking the initial contact and getting back in the play defensively. He's outplayed anyone on the Lakers frontline tonight. Another guy who looks really good is Croshere. He slimmed down and has some quickness back and more lift when he jumps.

POB is looking pretty good. Great hands, he's not picking up stupid fouls, he gives ground, he's got decent timing on shotblocks, and he's shown some nice passes.

I'm frustrated with the guard position even though this is only preseason ball and coming off of intense training camps. I totally dread Hudson if he can't take better care of the ball, make better decisions, and finish those plays he's supposed to make. His passing is inaccurate too. Way, way off the mark of where the pass should be. I'm also frustrated by Croshere. His shots are looking so Dunleavy like... Let's hope that's fatigue and not because he's a crappy shot.

    Burke for three!

I like Burke, but Croshere + Burke is starting to look like Murphleavy. Plus with THUD on the floor it reminds me of Derek Fisher... ugg...

Freakin Azu! That guy is so ripped he just powers his way inside. It's like Richmond and Jrich sort of.

I thought Croshere looked kind of bad out there, but he had his usual nice quick step and he got some stuff inside, but his outside shot wasn't even close.

That could probably be fatigue, but yeah it wasn't even close. Off front iron, off back iron, airball, off side rim... ugly.

Ah Burke you Moron! Only 1 second differential between shotclock and game clock and he took the baseline three with 8 or 9 seconds left to run out...

Plus, there was no foul on the play that I saw. The refs basically give two free shots to the Lakers. But still... Burke... Moron!

    Quick thoughts on the game:

    - POB was amazing. I did not expect him to be nearly as good as he showed last night. He already showed us the flashes of shotblocking/changing ability and pretty crafty passing but it seemsl ike hes finally figured out rebounding and on-ball defense. Dude changes A LOT of shots and hes finally putting that insane length to use on the glass. I was really impressed with him tonight against a big, solid group of Laker C's. Despite still being rail thin he didn't get pushed around too much either. Gotta say though when he stretches out he makes Bynum and Mihm look like they're 6'7. If he can keep that up he'll be a great piece on our team.

    - Croshere also impressed me. When we signed him I thought he was just an old vet to sit at the end of the bench but hes showing he can play. His shot was way off, perhaps due to his injury status, but he showed very nice ballhandling and mobility and I was very impressed with how well he rebounded. With Cro and POB on the active roster we'll have a much more solid and versatile frontline.

    - THUD sucked for the most part but hit a few shots including the game winner. I think hes solidified the fact that Monta will be getting most of Baron's backup minutes.

    - Asu is a stud palin and simple. Hes extremely well rounded and a beast on the boards. Start him.

I agree with what Run said, and would like to add the two worst looking Warriors on the court were Barnes and Pietrus. Couldn't hit anything, and were total liabilities on the floor.

Nice analysis Run BJM. I hope the good play continues. I'm not worried about THUD's play since we got Monta, but he's someone else who can hit the outside shot when we need it. Matt Barnes should have better games because remember how he used to drive people crazy last season? As for MP, I think it's best if he can be traded. He seems like the old MP. Jervais Crittendon had a breakout game like Buki, so he's someone to watch this season. Somehow I doubt Derek Fisher as starting PG is going to last long. Finally, if POB continues his great play into the season, I'll be the first to take back all the crap I said about him.

Good analysis Run. I thought Pietrus made some solid defensive contributions for the Warriors. His offense was horrendous, but I think the Warriors can use him to get an offensive player out of rhythm and to defend the more athletic forwards in the game. Kelenna was the amazing last night for the Warriors and has to be the front-runner for the starting SG role.

These two teams play again on Friday, so let's see if he can continue his strong preseason play.

Only saw the first half. The first quarter was tremendous. The ball movement and transition offense was beautiful. Its only the first preseason game but it looks promising. Baron, Jax, Biedrins, Azu, and Al were flowing and running but not taking wild shots.

Azubuike knows how to play. Hope he can keep his confidence level up. He's a more solid player than Barnes.

Belinelli looks like a nice shooter who knows how to play the game.

POB looked promising. What we should have been seeing last year. Oh well, he's definitely a keeper at the bargain price.

Why Burke got so much time is puzzling. If we have to rely on him we are hurting.

Hudson is a gunner, and unfortunately a veteran gunner too (remember Fish's mentality? I'm the vet I'm doing what I want). Hopefully he's just a bit player this year.

Hang on, its going to be a fun ride this year.

They said Nellie was impressed with Burke's ability to get up and down the court last night. The Warriors probably wanted to get as much film on him as possible since he's one of the guys on the bubble. He might have sealed his fate with that bonehead 3 pointer he took near the end of the game. One thing Burke did well was draw fouls and make his free throws.

Matt Barnes might have been the worst player last night for the Warriors.

Totally agree, Wild and Run and Shape. But I guess that's why free agency or trade offers didn't help those guys much. They are both liabilities at times more often than not and that is what is frustrating about those two. They are very athletically gifted and tall for their positions, but they lack basketball common sense and they have trouble shooting and avoiding committing stupid fouls. It's not because the league is too full of decent players, it's because high energy guys like Pietrus and Barnes often times demonstrate that they do not know how to play basketball using their head. So... they cannot be trusted to deliver or support the other guys out there on the floor other than use their speed/hustle to come up with loose balls or out of position rebounds. So I guess we're stuck unless we can grab a guy who can really rebound without being a risky team player. Let's hope that guy we're talking about is POB and he does what he did almost every single game.

I'm also hoping Burke can make the team even though he took that bonehead three. He might be useful in game situations where you need him to take a distance shot or shoot free throws or take baseline midrange shots. Croshere looked decent handling the ball and using his steps to get to the rim, but his defense and shooting looked attrocious. Glad, he's only a 1 year thing. Then everyone pretty much knows my thoughts about Troy Hudson because I pretty much whined about him the most since he had the ball in his hands the most in the 2nd unit. He looked out of control on the dribble, he couldn't make half his layups, his passes to the intended receiver were crappy as hell, and he couldn't shoot well... but he came through in the clutch when it counted. That sounded like Derek Fisher trying to run an open court offense but instead we get stuck in a halfcourt and he nails it in for the win! He'll be the epitomy of the love-hate relationship if he does another clutch thing later on in the real season.

I really liked the starting 5 a lot. It reminds me of last year's starting 5 during the playoff run with Monta on the bench. If Azu plays like this every game in real season we might just forget Jrich almost (LOL! Blasphemy! Jrich jocker for life! [IMG] ). I kind of knew that Azu would get the nod ahead of Belinelli because he's shown signs he's more ready now (we're talking physically, mentally in terms of the Don Nelson playbook, and mentally in terms of his contract situation). The guy is hungry and rightfully so because he's not guaranteed much to be considered a franchise investment! For a would-be first round draft pick, Azu is definitely showing the side many had hoped he would show earlier. The question is, can he show this aggressiveness and offensive production both consistently and as a starter?

I also liked Belinelli but he looked like he needed touches to bring the most out of his game. His shot was a bit off and I think the team was looking for rebounding and inside game a lot more (duhhh). But one thing that was great about him was that he always seemed to have vision on the ball whether it was on the defensive side or the offensive side. He always knew where to be on the play and he could anticipate a lot better than most. People always talked about how Dunleavy was good at that, well Belinelli does that and he's a lot quicker, better off-balance, and better jumper.

I wish I could have seen Brandan Wright and Lasme, but I'm thinking Nelson is more concerned about who we should keep out of 18 or 19 guys we already have. Who knows if one or all of the three training camp invites could be dropped depending on if other teams waive guys that we actually want.

One lineup I never want to see, however, is Burke/Croshere/Barnes/Pietrus/Troy Hudson unit... Goodness... that's like Murphy/Dunleavy/Barnes/Pietrus/Fisher right there only slightly worse.

Saw Belinelli hit 2 jumpers in the first half and they were pure; what you expect out of a shooter. Those shots will fall regardless of who's guarding him.

Barnes? If he just plays within his limitations and doesn't get a huge head, he'll be fine. Yes he's not perfect but the system is perfect for him. I just hope he appreciates it. I saw him once after a game in the downstairs club bar or whatever its called and he seemed like a really nice guy who made time for the fans.

Azubuike may make us forget JRich because he's a better defender and ball handler; I really appreciated everything that JRich brought to the game, especially desire and effort, but his game did not improve to the point of being able to create his own shots at crunch time.
