The Nets have reportedly withdrawn their offer. The Knicks would appear to be his only choice, but are lukewarm to his comeback...and they still have too many guaranteed contracts. Every day he doesn't show up in camp is one less day for him to prove what he can do under tough, tough circumstances.

Is he reconsidering his comeback attempt? Is there another team out there who wants him? Can his wife be happy with him thinking about heading off to San Antonio or Miami when she gave birth less than a week ago?

Or maybe does not just want to go to South Carolina where the Knicks are training and wants to wait til they return to their practice facility in Greenburgh, NY, a mere 12 miles from his home.

QUOTE

Allan Houston is expected to announce his comeback with the Knicks in the next 24 hours, a source told 1050 ESPN New York's Andrew Marchand.

Houston, 36, said he wants to return to the NBA because he did not leave by choice. In 2005, Houston retired because of an arthritic left knee. He has not played a full NBA season since 2002-03, when he scored a career-high 22.5 points per game. Over the next two years, he only played 70 games.

"It's really like I never got to finish. You ever been cut off in midsentence and never been able to finish what you were saying? It feels like I get to finish now ... Of course I want to win, but this quest to me is more about being able to play again while I still can," Houston said in a recent interview with ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

the 1050 guy said that AH is going to the knicks to tryout and isnt even guaranteed to make the team. we all know their roster is packed and they got money issues so it would be great with all the mess that is going on with the knicks and msg if they had to cut allan and he didnt make their roster. what a cluster F that would be. as a nets fan i would love that, more bad pr for the knicks where we can capitalize in the papers.

anyway. best of luck to allan. he was the only knick i actually liked for those 90s knicks. i think he is going to look worse on the knicks than he would have with us. we are more of a team and more of a team committed to defense where we might have helped make allan look better on the D end and obviously he woulda looked better on the O end with our guys. i wonder how many games he can play during an 82 game season, plus some preseason games. i cant see him being able to last an entire year an i expect a bunch of DNPs. but with that said gl allan

If he can give them 15 minutes a night he makes the team, when has another name player stopped the Knicks from spending more money. Knicks don't have money problems, they just like to spend it and pay for their mistakes.

Just announce it already! We gave him no other choice. You'd think this was Jordan returning or something.

Last remaining big name free agent. After all the rumors of Reggie Miller, Rodman, Pippen, Houston and Penny are the 2 making a comeback.

I'm crossing my fingers that it's Nichols, and that he'll sign with another team soon after. I can't wait to see him play in the NBA this season.

I'm really curious as to what teams would like him on their team, too...

    Rodman??

    That would be a story!

    He's 46 years old and hasn't played a game since 2000.

He did win Celebrity Mole, though.

It seems every year there's a rumor that he wants to come back, but never got close.....not like Reggie where there was a team lined up.
